Description

The Pedal Is Not a Platform. It Is a Handshake. Every watt of power you generate travels through a contact patch measured in square centimeters — the interface between sole and pin, between intention and forward motion. The Ridge Line MTB cycling shoe is engineered for riders who understand that the first millimeter of movement is the most consequential. Flat cleat compatibility. SPD-ready. Built to connect you to the trail with the precision of a surgical instrument and the durability of a mountain goat.

Constructed with a micro-adjustable ratchet buckle closure paired with dual hook-and-loop straps, the Ridge Line delivers a locked-in fit that eliminates heel lift without creating pressure points. The stiff nylon composite sole transfers power efficiently while maintaining enough flex for hike-a-bike sections — because the best trails don't always stay rideable. A reinforced toe cap shrugs off rock strikes, while the breathable mesh upper manages temperature during long summer ascents. This is a shoe that asks only one thing: that you commit.

Because the only thing between you and the summit is the connection you trust.

Application Scenarios

The Ridge Line is built for cross-country trail riders, enduro racers, and weekend singletrack enthusiasts who demand both power transfer and walkability. On technical climbs with dismount sections, the flexible forefoot allows confident scrambling over roots and rocks. On fast descents, the ratchet closure keeps the heel locked down through chatter and drops. The dual-compatibility sole means you can run SPD cleats for clipped-in efficiency on race day or switch to flat pedals for skills sessions at the bike park. The aggressive outsole tread grips muddy trailheads and wet rock gardens — because the ride doesn't end at the saddle. From alpine epics to after-work hot laps, the Ridge Line bridges the gap between road-shoe stiffness and hiker-shoe comfort.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use these with flat pedals?

A: Yes. The Ridge Line features a dual-compatibility sole — the tread pattern provides excellent grip on flat pedal pins, while the recessed cleat mount accepts 2-bolt SPD cleats for clipped-in riding. You can switch between flat and clipless without changing shoes.

Q: How stiff is the sole?

A: The nylon composite sole has a stiffness rating of approximately 6 out of 10 — stiff enough for efficient power transfer on climbs and sprints, but with engineered flex zones in the forefoot that make walking and hike-a-bike sections comfortable. It is not as rigid as a carbon-soled road shoe, which is intentional for MTB use.

Q: Are these waterproof?

A: The Ridge Line is water-resistant but not fully waterproof. The breathable mesh upper handles light rain, puddle splashes, and morning dew without issue. For extended wet-weather riding, we recommend waterproof socks or gaiters. The quick-drying synthetic materials mean the shoes won't stay waterlogged after stream crossings.

Q: Do they run true to size?

A: The Ridge Line runs slightly snug in the midfoot — ideal for the locked-in fit that MTB riding demands. If you are between sizes or prefer a roomier toe box, we recommend sizing up by half a size. Consult the size chart in the product images for detailed measurements.

Q: Can I replace the cleats?

A: Yes. The 2-bolt SPD cleat mount is a standard Shimano-compatible pattern. Replacement cleats are widely available and the mounting bolts are included with the shoes. The cleat channel allows fore-aft adjustment for optimal pedal position.

Q: How does the ratchet closure compare to BOA dials?

A: The micro-adjustable ratchet buckle provides similar precision to BOA systems — you can tighten or loosen in small increments on the fly. The advantage of ratchet + Velcro over BOA is field-repairability: if a ratchet strap is damaged on the trail, it can be replaced with basic tools, whereas BOA dials require specialized parts.

From road to trail

I switched from road cycling to MTB last year and struggled to find shoes that had decent stiffness without the complete lack of walkability that road shoes have. These hit the sweet spot. Used them on a 6-hour enduro day including 2 miles of hike-a-bike and my feet felt fine. The ratchet closure is precise and easy to adjust mid-ride.

Great shoes, runs slightly small

The build quality and stiffness are outstanding for the price. I use them with SPD cleats on technical singletrack and they perform beautifully. The aggressive tread saved me on a muddy hike-a-bike section. I do recommend sizing up half a size — my usual EU 40 was snug in the toe box. Exchanged for 41 and they fit perfectly.

Best MTB shoes I have owned

I have been through three pairs of MTB shoes in the last two years and these are by far the best. The ratchet buckle gives a locked-in feel that Velcro-only shoes cannot match. Power transfer is excellent — I PR'd my local climb on the first ride. Walkability is surprisingly good for a shoe this stiff. Used them on a 40-mile XC epic and had zero hot spots.
