説明

Night fishing removes your best sense. The rod tip is a rumour, the line disappears into black water, and everything depends on watching for a movement you can barely see. Most missed bites at night are not missed strikes. They are bites nobody noticed.

This float is built to solve exactly that. The internal gravity sensor switches the LED on when the float lands upright and off when it is lifted clear of the water, so the light is only burning when it is working. The lamp shows green in its resting state and shifts to red the moment a fish pulls it under, which turns a subtle dip into an unambiguous signal visible at long casting range.

The battery life is the other half of the design. A single set of cells runs for roughly 200 hours, which covers a season of evening sessions rather than a weekend. The body is moulded in plastic with a spherical profile that casts cleanly and rides high in the water, and the drifting tail keeps the light above the surface where it can be seen.

Two floats ship together with two buoyancy options, 40 g and 50 g, so the same pack covers a light sea rod and a heavier surf setup.

Green means waiting. Red means now.

Key Features

  • ✦ Gravity-sensing switch activates the LED on landing and switches it off when lifted clear
  • ✦ Green resting light shifts to red on the strike for an unambiguous bite signal
  • ✦ Approximately 200 hours of battery life from a single set of cells
  • ✦ Visible at long distance, useful for surf casting and rock fishing at night
  • ✦ Spherical body design that casts cleanly and rides high in the water
  • ✦ Two buoyancy options included, 40 g and 50 g, covering different rod weights
  • ✦ Two floats per pack for backup or a second rod setup

Where It Fits

Night anglers fishing rocky shorelines use the colour change as their strike indicator, keeping their eyes off a dim rod tip. Surf casters working long distances rely on the light being visible past the point where line movement can be read. Boat anglers fishing after dark use a pair so a second rod stays rigged. Kayak and pier anglers value the automatic switch, since the light is off during transport and cannot be left burning in a bag.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the light know when to switch on?

A: A gravity sensor detects when the float is upright in the water. Lifting it clear switches the light off automatically, so the battery is not wasted between casts.

Q: What is the difference between the 40 g and 50 g options?

A: Buoyancy weight. The 40 g version suits lighter rods and calmer water, while 50 g holds position better in current or surf.

Q: How long does the battery last?

A: Roughly 200 hours of active use from one set of cells, which covers many evening sessions.

Q: Can I use it in saltwater?

A: Yes. It is built for ocean beach and rock fishing, and rinsing it with fresh water after a session keeps the contacts clean.

Q: How many floats come in one order?

A: Two floats per pack, so you can rig a second rod or keep a spare.

How It Compares

Consideration This Set Ordinary Alternatives
Bite signal Green at rest, red on the strike Single-colour light only
Switch Automatic gravity sensing, off when lifted Manual twist, easily left burning
Battery life Approximately 200 hours 20 to 40 hours typical
Buoyancy options 40 g and 50 g in the same pack One weight per purchase

Why It Matters

A float light is only useful if it is still burning at the end of the session. Most cheap electronic floats rely on a manual twist switch and small cells, which means the light is often left on in the tackle box and dead by the time it reaches the water. The automatic switch is the difference between a working float and a spare.

More Questions From Buyers

Q: Does the light stay on while the float is in the car?

A: No. The sensor only activates when the float stands upright in the water, so transport and storage do not drain the battery.

Q: Is the float easy to see against a dark shoreline?

A: The LED is designed for long-range visibility. Against black water and a dark background the red strike signal is difficult to miss.

Visible a long way out

Surf casting at night and the light is still clearly readable past the distance where I can see line movement. Two per pack means both rods stay rigged.

40 g works in calm water

The 40 g version holds fine on the pier. For surf I would take the 50 g, which is why the pack covering both is the right way to buy these.

Battery still going after a full season

I have fished these on and off since spring and the cells are still strong. The automatic switch means I never find it dead in the tackle box, which was the problem with my old floats.

The colour change is the whole point

Green while it sits, red the second a fish takes it. Watching for that shift is far easier than trying to read a rod tip in the dark, and I stopped missing bites I used to sleep through.
