Building a battery pack is the point where a hobby becomes a responsibility. Thirty cells, sixty welds, and one weak joint is enough to raise resistance, generate heat and turn a neatly assembled pack into a hazard. The Nickel Point exists to make that joint consistent rather than hopeful.
It runs a double pulse discharge at up to 1200 amps with 8000 watts of peak power, adjustable from zero upward, and that adjustability is what allows the same tool to weld 0.1 mm nickel strip for a small pack and 0.3 mm strip for a high current build without scorching the cell beneath it. The welding pen is built for conductivity and low contact resistance, so the energy goes into the joint instead of warming the cable.
The machine carries its own 9600 mAh lithium battery, which means it works on a bench, in a workshop or on a garage floor without a tether. Input runs from 100 to 240 volts through the supplied adapter, output is 8.4 volts, and the ABS shell is surface anodised to resist wear from the sort of handling a workshop tool receives.
The whole unit measures roughly 15 x 9.8 x 5 cm with a 47 cm pen, so it stores in a tool drawer rather than claiming bench space. A one metre roll of nickel tape and a sheet of sanding paper are included so the first pack can be welded the day the parcel arrives.
A battery pack is only as good as its worst weld. Weld all of them properly.

Where It Belongs
People rebuilding drill and e-bike packs use it because the adjustable current lets them match the strip thickness to the cell without guessing. Repair shops servicing cordless tool batteries value the double pulse because a second pulse cleans the joint and lowers resistance. Solar and power station builders assembling 18650 packs use it on the bench where a mains powered welder would need a socket and a longer cable. It is also the tool of choice for anyone who has already ruined one pack with a cheap single pulse unit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can it weld 0.3 mm nickel strip?
Yes. The adjustable current range and double pulse discharge are designed for strip from 0.1 mm up to 0.3 mm. Thicker nickel requires higher current and a shorter pulse duration.
Q: Does it need to be plugged in?
No. It runs on the built-in 9600 mAh lithium battery, so it works away from a socket. The supplied adapter recharges it from a 100 to 240V supply.
Q: Can it weld copper or aluminium?
No. Copper, aluminium, gold and silver strip cannot be welded using this resistance spot welding method. Use nickel strip or nickel plated steel.
Q: What comes in the box?
The spot welder itself, a power adapter, one metre of nickel tape and a sheet of sanding paper. Battery cells are not included.
Q: How do I set the current?
Start low and increase until the weld holds a firm pull test without a burn mark through the strip. The correct setting depends on strip thickness, so test on spare material first.
Q: Is it suitable for a beginner?
Yes, with care. Practise on scrap cells and strip before working on a live pack, and always check polarity before discharging.
