the-long-wire-cb-40m-radio-module
The Long Wire | CB-40M Citizen Band Radio Module, 8W, 25.615 to 30.105 MHz

When the Network Fails, the Air Does Not. Every communications plan that depends on a tower has a single point of failure, and that point is somebody else's decision. The Long Wire is a citizen band radio module covering 25.615 to 30.105 MHz at 8 watts, built in the ultra-mini CB-40M form factor: a transceiver small enough to live inside a vehicle, a go-bag or a bench build, and loud enough to be heard well past the edge of mobile coverage.

The specification matters more than the marketing here. Forty channels across the citizen band with an 8-watt output is a genuine working radio, not a toy walkie-talkie, and 25.615 to 30.105 MHz covers the CB band plus the neighbouring segments used in different regions. The ultra-mini chassis is the design decision that makes the product useful: a radio that fits behind a dashboard or inside a portable case gets installed, whereas a full-size set gets discussed and then forgotten. Combined with the compact antenna supplied in the bundled configurations, it is a complete station rather than a component waiting for a project.

The people who buy this are not buying a gadget. They are buying a second channel of communication that does not require permission from an infrastructure owner: overlanders on remote tracks, farm and site operators coordinating across open ground, event crews, and households that want a radio in the house that works when the fibre does not. Screen colour and antenna bundle are the only variables, and both are decided by where the radio is going rather than by what it looks like.

Range is not a feature of the radio. Farm, ranch and construction sites use CB because the alternative is shouting across open ground, and a fixed module inside a machine or a site hut is more useful than a handheld that goes missing. Event and security crews take it for short-range coordination without channel licensing overhead. The domestic case is the quiet one and perhaps the most sensible: a compact radio in a kitchen drawer is the difference between knowing what is happening during a regional outage and simply waiting it out.

Questions, Answered

Q: Does this need a licence?

A: Citizen band operation is licence-free in most jurisdictions, but the rules differ by country and the 25.615 to 30.105 MHz span crosses segments that are not universally allocated.
