the-field-board-aluminium-folding-picnic-table
The Field Board | Aluminium Folding Picnic Table with Seating for Four

A Table Is a Claim on the Ground. Set a table down anywhere and you have declared that this patch of grass, gravel or concrete is now a room. The Field Board is built for exactly that gesture: an aluminium and wood folding table measuring 85.5 by 67 by 72.5 centimetres, seating four, rated to carry 25 kilograms on the tabletop and 90 kilograms across its stool surfaces, and folding flat enough to live in the boot of a car rather than in a storage unit.

The engineering argument here is material honesty. An aluminium tube frame carries the load; ABS mouldings absorb the joints and the abuse; a wood-finished top gives you the surface quality of a picnic bench with the mass of something you can carry in one hand. That combination is what separates a table you use twice a year from one that ends up in the back of the estate car permanently. At 85.5 centimetres long it is sized for a real meal for four rather than for a wine glass and two phones.

Most portable tables fail in the joint, not in the panel. Folding hardware that is bolted through soft material deforms the second time somebody leans on it. This is a tube-and-casting construction with a stated load ceiling on both the table and the seating, which is the difference between a product that has been engineered to a number and one that has been assembled to a photograph.

Portability should not be a synonym for temporary. Festival and event traders use it as a checkout surface that folds into a hatchback at the end of the night. Garden and balcony owners use it as the table they do not want to leave outside all winter, since folding it away is faster than covering it.
