Description

Power Stops Being a Place and Starts Being a Decision.

A rigid solar panel forces a compromise on every installation. Mount it flat because that is the only shape it has, accept the roof penetration, the weight and the wind load that comes with a bracket. A flexible panel removes the compromise. The Helios Flex uses monocrystalline cells laminated into a sheet that bends, so it can follow the gentle curve of an RV roof, a boat cabin, a camper shell or a shed that was never designed to carry a panel at all. No bracket geometry, no rattle at highway speed, no extra weight sitting high on the vehicle.

The cells are sealed under four layers of EVA with a protective PET cover laminate, which is what gives the panel its resistance to the moisture it will meet on a boat deck and the dust it will meet over a long season off grid. Two output sizes are stocked, 125W for smaller battery banks and 250W for larger systems, and both are built for 12V and 24V battery charging through a charge controller. Run them in multiples and the array scales toward a 1000W installation for a home system or a serious expedition vehicle.

The limits deserve the same honesty as the specification. A flexible panel prefers a smooth curve to a sharp crease, and it needs airflow rather than being bonded flat against a hot surface that bakes it from below. Partial shade also costs proportionally more here than on a framed panel with bypass diodes, which is why a clear sight line to the sun is worth more than an extra 50W of rating on paper.

The sun does not move to your roof. The panel moves to the sun.

Key Features

  • Monocrystalline Cells — Higher conversion efficiency per square metre than polycrystalline equivalents
  • Ultra-Flexible Laminate — Conforms to gently curved surfaces such as RV roofs and boat decks
  • Four-Layer EVA Seal — Moisture and dust resistant encapsulation finished with a protective PET cover
  • Two Output Sizes — 125W and 250W options to match the size of the battery bank
  • 12V and 24V Charging — Designed for battery charging systems with an external charge controller
  • System Scaling — Multiple panels combine toward 1000W home and expedition arrays
  • Frame-Free Weight — No aluminium frame or glass sheet to carry or to catch the wind
  • Mounting Flexibility — Bonds or fastens to surfaces that cannot take a rigid panel

Where It Works

It works on the surfaces where rigid panels do not. A camper van roof with a factory curve takes the 125W to keep the leisure battery ahead of a fridge and interior lighting. A boat cabin or a bimini frame takes the 250W through a controller to a house bank that has to survive a week of cloudy marine weather. Off-grid cabins, shed lighting, remote gate openers, water pumps and irrigation timers all sit comfortably inside the range, and because the panel carries no frame and no glass, it can be mounted on a surface that was never engineered for a panel at all.

Before You Commit

Q: Can I connect it straight to a battery?

A: No. A charge controller is required between panel and battery. The controller regulates charging voltage and prevents the battery being held at a level that shortens its life.

Q: How much can it bend?

A: It bends to follow gentle curves such as a vehicle roof or a boat deck. It is not a fabric panel and it does not fold, so avoid a sharp crease or a repeated tight bend during handling.

Q: Which size should I choose?

A: 125W suits battery maintenance and light loads such as lighting and phone charging. 250W suits a daily load such as a compressor fridge or a small inverter, and multiples can be combined for larger systems.

Q: How many panels do I need for 1000W?

A: Four of the 250W panels, run through an appropriately rated controller. Confirm the controller and cable sizing against the combined current before wiring.

Q: How sensitive is it to shade?

A: More sensitive than a framed panel with bypass diodes. A partial shadow can pull down output from the whole string, so clear sight lines and multiple panels angled at different positions give more reliable daily yield.

Q: Can I walk on it?

A: No. Flexible panels are laminated sheets, not decking. Mount them where they will not be stepped on or used as a standing surface.

No frame, no wind load

The weight saving is real and there is nothing to catch the wind at highway speed. Just do not walk on it, and make sure it has airflow underneath rather than sitting flat on hot metal.

Four of these runs the cabin

Bought four of the 250W panels into one controller for the cabin. Covers lighting, a water pump and battery charging without ever touching the generator.

Shade costs real output

Output drops hard if anything shadows it, more than my framed panel does. Once I repositioned it with a clear line to the sun the daily yield went up noticeably.

Boat cabin top fit

Mounted on the cabin top through a controller. Two weeks of marine weather and no moisture in the laminate at all. Output matches what the rating suggests.

Follows a curved van roof

My van roof has a factory curve and a rigid panel was never going to sit right on it. This follows the curve, keeps the weight low, and the leisure battery stays ahead of the fridge.
