Description

A beach dress has one job that almost none of them do properly: it has to look like it belongs somewhere, and it has to survive being folded into a bag. The Long Tide starts from the print, two colourways built around a coastal motif that reads as a horizon rather than as a floral. Green sits close to the tone of shallow water. Red is the sunset version of the same drawing. Neither is loud enough to compete with the place you are wearing it, which is the test a resort print has to pass.

The cut is where it earns the money. Suspender straps are set for a V-neckline that stays in position without constant adjustment, and the A-line releases from a natural waist into a floor-length fall with medium stretch in the weave. That elasticity is the practical decision behind the whole dress: it means one size covers a wider range of bodies comfortably, and it means the fabric moves with wind and with water instead of going rigid. The hem is floor-length on the chart, cut long enough to be worn with a sandal and short enough that it does not need to be held up on sand.

Two print colourways, green and red, sizes S through XL. The dress weighs almost nothing and folds to the size of a paperback, which is the reason it belongs in a carry-on rather than a checked bag. It works over swimwear at the beach and it works with a fitted tee under it in a city, which is more range than a resort dress is usually asked to deliver.

The print is not the point. The way it moves in wind is the point.

Packing and Wearing

This is a travel dress, and the way to use it is to stop treating it as one outfit. Over a swimsuit on the walk back from the water. With a fitted white tee and flat sandals for lunch in town. Belted at the waist in the evening when the temperature drops. Medium stretch means it goes straight back into shape after being folded in a bag for a day, and the print does not show the creasing that a solid pale fabric would. Wash it in a sink, hang it on a balcony rail, and it is dry before dinner.

Common Questions

Q: Is it long enough to wear on sand without dragging?

A: The cut is floor-length on the chart and lands just above the ground on an average-height wearer in flat sandals. On wet sand you will want to gather the hem slightly. The fabric is light enough that it does not hold water for long.

Q: Do the suspender straps adjust?

A: They are fixed at the shoulder for a set V-neck drop rather than sliding buckles, which is deliberate. Adjustable hardware on a light beach fabric tends to slip under the weight of a wet hem. If you need a shorter drop, a tailor can take up the strap at the back seam in minutes.

Q: Is it opaque when wet?

A: The weave is medium weight and holds opacity when damp in both colourways. It is not a cover-up designed to be worn wet, but it will not turn transparent on the walk back from the water.

Q: How does the stretch affect sizing?

A: Medium stretch means the dress forgives roughly one size in either direction through the body. Order your normal size for the intended A-line shape. Size up only if you plan to wear it over a swimsuit with structure or want a noticeably looser drape.

Q: Which colourway photographs better?

A: Green holds detail in bright midday light, which is when most holiday photographs are taken. The red reads stronger at golden hour and in the evening. Both are printed at the same resolution.

Q: Can this be worn somewhere other than a beach?

A: It works as a summer city dress with a belt and closed sandals, and as a layering piece over a slip dress in the evening. The floor-length hem is the only constraint, and it is the reason the A-line matters: it clears the ground when you walk rather than catching on it.

Packed flat and shipped within one business day from stock, with tracking. Fourteen-day returns on unworn pieces. Size up if you want a looser drape over swimwear.

Wore it three ways in one week

Over swimwear at the beach, with a white tee and flat sandals in town, then belted for dinner. The A-line clears the ground when you walk, which is the only thing I worry about with a floor length hem. Sizing up gave the looser drape I wanted.

Print is better than the photos suggest

The green reads as a horizon rather than a floral, which is why I chose it over the red. Medium stretch means it moves with wind instead of going stiff. The straps are fixed rather than adjustable, so check the drop before ordering.

Folded to nothing in a carry-on

Took this to the coast and it earned its place. Folds down to about the size of a paperback, comes out of the bag without creasing badly, and the print does not show the folds. Wore it over a swimsuit on the walk back and it stayed opaque while damp.
