説明

Outerwear is a question of where the hem falls. Set it at the hip bone and everything under it changes: the leg reads longer, the waist reads higher, the silhouette reads deliberate. This jacket is cropped on purpose, cut short so it stops arguing with whatever you are wearing underneath.

The surface is the second decision. A crocodile emboss grained into PU leather catches light unevenly, which gives a flat colour depth without a print, sheen, or logo. It is faux leather, so it stays light on the shoulders and survives rain without the water-stain anxiety of aniline leather. The front wraps asymmetrically and closes open, which means the jacket can sit square or slouch depending on how you fold it. Wide flare sleeves finish the line, full length to the wrist, generous enough that the cuff folds back once.

Turn-down collar, zip hardware, and a covered button placket do the detail work. Nothing on this piece is trying to look expensive; the material and the proportion do that job, which is why it works over a slip dress as easily as over a hooded sweatshirt. Colours are chosen for that neutrality: brown, wine red, dark green, and a white that behaves like cream rather than paper.

Autumn and winter are the seasons it was cut for, but the weight is the point. It layers over a knit without adding bulk at the shoulder, and packs flat enough to travel as the jacket you carry rather than wear.

The hem decides the proportion. Everything else is material.

Three details that hold the look

  • ✦ Cropped cut that ends at the hip bone, chosen to lengthen the leg line
  • ✦ Crocodile-embossed PU leather: textured surface, light weight, rain tolerant
  • ✦ Asymmetrical wrap front that can be worn square or folded into a slouch
  • ✦ Wide flare sleeves, full length, with room to turn the cuff back
  • ✦ Turn-down collar with zip hardware and a covered button placket
  • ✦ Faux leather lining that slides over knitwear instead of catching on it
  • ✦ Four neutral colourways: brown, wine red, dark green, white

Cut, material and care

  • Material: PU faux leather with crocodile embossing
  • Length: Cropped, hip length
  • Collar: Turn-down collar
  • Closure: Asymmetrical wrap front, zip and covered button
  • Sleeves: Full length, wide flare
  • Fit: Loose, boxy through the body
  • Season: Autumn and winter
  • Sizes: S, M, L
  • Colours: Brown, wine red, dark green, white
  • Care: Wipe with a damp cloth, hang to dry, do not machine wash

How it layers

It belongs over the top of an outfit that already works: a slip dress at dinner, straight-leg denim on a Saturday, a hooded sweatshirt on the walk that follows. Because the cut is short and the surface is textured, it reads as a finished layer rather than an afterthought, which is the difference between a coat you grab and a jacket you choose.

Straight answers on PU

Q: Is PU leather going to peel?

PU is a coated fabric, and any coated fabric will eventually delaminate if it is stored damp or washed in a machine. Wiped clean and hung dry, this one holds for seasons. We would rather tell you that than promise leather behaviour from a faux material.

Q: How does the cropped length fit a taller frame?

It ends at the hip bone on a 165 cm frame and sits slightly above it on a 175 cm frame, which keeps the proportion intact. If you want coverage over the seat, this is the wrong cut by design.

Q: Will the embossing flatten out?

No, the grain is pressed into the coating rather than printed on it. It softens slightly at the elbows and the inside of the arm, the same way any textured surface does with wear.

Q: Can it be worn in rain?

Light rain, yes. A PU surface sheds water and dries without staining. Prolonged soaking will eventually seep at the seams, as it would on any unsealed outer layer.

Q: What is under the jacket in the photographs?

Styling only, not included. The listing is the jacket.

Q: Does the jacket run true to size?

It runs loose, so take your usual size for the intended boxy fit and size down if you want it closer to the body. The cropped length is the same across S, M and L, which is deliberate.

Q: Will the collar stand up or lie flat?

Both. Turn-down by default, and the interfacing is stiff enough to hold a popped position for photographs without collapsing halfway through the evening.

The green is the one

Ordered dark green expecting something flat and got a deep olive that reads expensive next to black. The wide sleeves are the detail that makes it, they open at the wrist and change the proportion of everything underneath. Wiped clean after a rainy walk with no marking.

Loose fit, size down if you want it close

The body is boxy, so I took the small and it sits on the shoulder properly rather than sliding off. The flare sleeves are generous enough to fold the cuff back once. Not a winter coat, I would not wear it below about eight degrees.

The cropped hem changes everything

I am 170 cm and the hem lands right at the hip bone, which makes my legs look considerably longer over straight jeans. The crocodile emboss catches light in small facets so it reads as texture rather than plastic. The wrap front sits differently depending on how I fold it, which I like.
