Description
A kitchen faucet is the most-touched object in a house and the least-considered. It is operated dozens of times a day, and almost every failure in the category traces back to one of three decisions made badly: the alloy, the cartridge, or the spout geometry. The Cascade Valve is a straightforward answer to all three, built in 304 stainless steel with a ceramic cartridge and a high-arc pull-down head.
304 stainless is the specification that matters most in a wet environment. It resists the chloride pitting that eventually pits and weeps through lesser alloys, and it does so without depending on a cosmetic plating that can flake at the edges. The brushed finish is applied to the metal itself, which is why it hides water spotting instead of recording every fingerprint. Inside, the ceramic plate cartridge replaces the rubber washers that fail first on conventional taps, giving a quarter-turn action that stays consistent at year five rather than loosening at year one.
The geometry is where the faucet earns its place in a working kitchen. A high arc gives clearance for stock pots and tall pitchers, the pull-down spray head extends the reach across a double sink, and the single lever controls temperature and flow together so one wet hand can operate it. Deck-mounted through a single hole, it fits both new counters and retrofits. It is not a statement piece. It is a tool that happens to look considered.
Good hardware is invisible in use and obvious in the hand.
Engineering Notes
- ✦304 stainless steel body with a brushed finish applied to the metal, not a plating
- ✦Ceramic plate cartridge for a consistent quarter-turn action over years of use
- ✦High-arc spout with flexible pull-down spray head for full sink reach
- ✦Single lever handle mixing hot and cold in one motion
- ✦Deck-mounted, single-hole installation with vertical mounting
- ✦Rotating spout for double-bowl sinks and island layouts
- ✦CE and WEEE certified for the European market

Installation Context
This faucet is aimed at two situations. The first is a kitchen renovation where the counter has already been drilled for a single hole and the priority is a fitting that will still be working in a decade. The second is a retrofit, where an older three-hole tap has reached the end of its service life and the owner wants the hardware to stop being a recurring cost. In both cases the install is a deck mount with flexible supply lines, so the work is under an hour for anyone comfortable with a spanner. The pull-down head and rotating spout then change how the sink is used rather than merely how it looks: pots fill without being held at an angle, and the second bowl stops being a reach.
Installation and Care
Does the pull-down head retract fully on its own?
Yes. The hose is weighted so the head seats back into the spout under its own tension. If it begins to hang after years of use, the weight can be repositioned on the hose under the sink, which is a two-minute adjustment rather than a replacement.
Will it fit an existing single-hole counter?
It is designed for a single-hole deck mount, so it drops into a standard 35 mm opening. If your current counter has three holes from an older tap, a deck plate covers the outer two and is the usual solution.
What water pressure does it need?
It performs normally on domestic mains pressure, typically 1.5 to 5 bar. Below about 1 bar the pull-down spray will feel weak, which is a supply issue rather than a faucet fault.
Is the finish going to peel?
No. There is no applied finish to peel. The brushed surface is the stainless steel itself, mechanically grained, so wear reveals more of the same material rather than a different one underneath.
Can it be used with a water filter or under-sink system?
Yes, it can be fed from a filtered supply. The ceramic cartridge is tolerant of the reduced flow that filter systems introduce, unlike cartridge designs that depend on a minimum flow rate to seal.
How is the cartridge replaced if it ever fails?
The handle cap lifts off, a retaining ring unscrews, and the cartridge pulls straight out. It is a homeowner-level job with a spanner, and the part is a standard ceramic plate cartridge rather than a proprietary assembly.
Is it suitable for hard water areas?
It handles hard water better than most, because ceramic plates are resistant to mineral buildup on the sealing faces. Periodic descaling of the spray head aerator is still worth doing in very hard water.
