Revisiting Woodhouse Grove School

When Woodhouse Grove School chose a CCGrass surface for their new rugby pitch, way back in 2012, they were one of the first schools to go the “artificial” route. Now, nine years later the pitch is well established and has proven a great success.

As part of the CCGrass pitch monitoring, UK CEO, Bryn Lee, called in at the school last week to see how it was faring.

“Given how much the pitch is used by Bradford City Academy, the school and the local community, I was really pleased with its feel, look and performance. It has been well maintained, and is in great shape.”

The installed surface is the Stemgrass EX2 60 turf, onto an insitu pad, and the football/rugby pitch, once again, achieved its World Rugby certification in November 2020.

Bryn commented further:

“Perhaps the most impressive feedback I received during my visit, was a comment made by one of the Academy players. He said that the pitch felt very natural underfoot, a “world away” from other synthetic turf he has played on.”

Stemgrass EX2 features a texturised “thatch” yarn, which helps contain the infill material and gives a surer footing as a result.

“Woodhouse Grove School was one of the first pitches using this technology. It has proven to be a real winner and creates a great playing surface for both rugby and football.”
