Description

A ceiling light should shape a room without dominating it.

Large pendant fixtures have a habit of winning arguments they were not invited to. They block sightlines, trap dust on a dozen exposed bulbs, and force every other decision in the room to work around them. The Halo Ring takes the opposite approach. It is a flat acrylic disc that sits close to the ceiling and delivers light across a wide field rather than in one bright point.

The construction is a black outer ring with a white diffusing face, or the reverse, depending on which finish you choose. The diffuser is the part that matters. A frosted acrylic face spreads the output of the LED array behind it, which is why the fixture reads as an even pool of light rather than a set of visible diodes. In a room with a low ceiling, that difference is the whole point.

Because the profile is only a few centimetres deep, the fixture works in rooms where a conventional chandelier cannot go. A kitchen with an island, a hallway with a standard door height, a dining area beneath a lofted ceiling, or a bedroom where a pendant would hang into your eye line. The diameter options let you scale the light to the table rather than to the room.

Dimming is handled through the included remote, with adjustable colour temperature on the models that offer it. It is a quiet, modern fixture, and quiet is exactly what a good light should be.

The best ceiling light is the one you notice only when it is off.

Key Features

  • ✦ Ultra-Thin Acrylic Profile
A shallow disc shape that keeps sightlines open and suits lower ceilings.
  • ✦ Two-Tone Black and White Finish
A clean monochrome face that reads as a deliberate fixture rather than a light fitting.
  • ✦ Even Diffused Output
A frosted acrylic diffuser spreads the LED array into a uniform field of light.
  • ✦ Remote Dimming
Brightness is adjusted from the handset without reaching for a wall dimmer.
  • ✦ Multiple Diameters
Scale the fixture to the table or island beneath it instead of to the room.
  • ✦ Low Profile Mounting
Sits close to the ceiling on a standard base, with no long drop rods to trim.
  • ✦ Energy-Efficient LED Array
Runs on mains voltage with a long service life and no bulb replacements.

Where It Belongs

The Halo Ring is built for rooms where a hanging fixture is impractical but flat lighting is not enough. Above a kitchen island it lights a work surface evenly while staying out of the eyeline of anyone seated opposite. In a dining room it puts an even pool of light over the table, so faces are lit rather than silhouetted. In a hallway or stairwell with standard door heights it avoids the low-hanging fixture problem entirely. It also suits open-plan layouts where a single pendant would need to serve several zones at once, because the wide diffused face covers more floor area than a point source of similar wattage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How much clearance does it need above the ceiling?

A: A standard flush base plate depth. The fixture itself sits close to the ceiling, so it works in rooms with ordinary ceiling heights and above kitchen islands.

Q: Can the brightness be adjusted?

A: Yes. The included remote controls brightness, and models with adjustable colour temperature let you shift the light from warm to cool.

Q: Is a dimmer wall switch required?

A: No. Dimming is handled by the remote control. The fixture connects to a standard switched mains supply.

Q: Which size should I choose for a dining table?

A: A common rule is to use a diameter roughly one third to one half the width of the table beneath it. A narrow table suits a smaller disc, while an island or a long table takes a larger one.

Q: Is the LED replaceable?

A: The LED array is integrated rather than a screw-in bulb. Rated life is long, and the driver is serviceable through the base plate.

Q: Can it be installed in a bathroom?

A: It is suited to dry interior rooms. For a bathroom or a covered outdoor area, confirm the ambient humidity against the fixture rating before installation.

Great light, remote feels basic

The fixture itself is excellent and the size was right for our table. The remote handset is a bit plasticky, but it does control brightness and colour temperature well.

Looks far more expensive than it was

The black and white finish is clean and the diffuser hides the LEDs completely. No hotspots at all, which was my worry with a flat fixture.

Lights the island properly and stays out of the way

Replaced a pendant that I kept hitting my head on. This spreads the light evenly across the worktop and the remote dimming is genuinely useful in the evening.
