Description

JAYO Filament

Filament is the least glamorous part of 3D printing and the one that ruins the most prints. A spool with uneven diameter shows up as inconsistent extrusion two hours into a build; moisture absorbed in storage shows up as popping, stringing and a surface that looks boiled. JAYO winds this spool to a plus or minus 0.02mm tolerance, vacuums it dry, and seals it in a box before it reaches a warehouse shelf.

The 1.1kg net weight is the quiet advantage: roughly ten percent more material than a standard kilo spool, which is one more mid-sized print before a reorder. PLA runs at 200 to 210 degrees with a bed at 60 to 80, PETG and PLA+ sit in their own temperature bands, and the melt index of 7 to 9 grams per ten minutes keeps flow stable at 50 to 100mm per second without asking for a high-flow hotend.

Tensile strength lands between 11 and 16 kgf with four percent elongation at break, which places it in the stiff, dimensionally honest part of the PLA family rather than the flexible one. Layer adhesion is consistent enough that a printed bracket holds its shape under load, and the low shrinkage means a large flat part stays flat instead of curling off the plate at hour three.

A spool is not packaging. It is the first tolerance in the print.

What The Build Gets Right

  • ✦ Diameter held to plus or minus 0.02mm across the full 330 metre length
  • ✦ 1.1kg net weight per spool, roughly ten percent more than a standard kilo
  • ✦ Vacuum sealed with desiccant, so the first print behaves like the last
  • ✦ Melt index of 7 to 9 g per 10 minutes for stable flow at 50 to 100mm/s
  • ✦ Tensile range of 11 to 16 kgf with low shrinkage and four percent elongation
  • ✦ Available across PLA, PLA+, PETG, PLA Meta and matte finishes
  • ✦ Cardboard and plastic spool options that fit standard 1.75mm feeders

Where It Earns Its Place

Workshop shelves, school labs and print farms all run into the same two failure modes: inconsistent diameter and wet filament. A 1.1kg spool with a sealed desiccant pack removes both from the equation for a beginner setting up a first printer, and gives a farm a predictable per-print cost with fewer mid-batch failures. Because PLA, PETG and PLA+ share the same winding and tolerance, a single order can cover brackets, enclosures and decorative work without switching suppliers.

Questions Buyers Ask Before Ordering

Why is the spool 1.1kg instead of 1kg?

It is a deliberate margin. The extra hundred grams covers the tail end of a long print and the purge lines at the start of each job, so a spool that reads nearly empty still finishes the model.

Do I need an enclosure for PETG?

Not for most parts. PETG prints on an open frame at its recommended temperatures, though a draft-free room helps on large flat sections. An enclosure becomes useful for ABS and for very tall parts.

What should I do if the filament has been open for months?

Dry it before use. Four to six hours at 45 to 50 degrees in a filament dryer, or overnight in a sealed box with fresh desiccant, restores most spools. Popping sounds at the nozzle are the audible sign that moisture is still present.

Does the tolerance really matter at this price?

It matters most on fine detail and on long unattended prints. A diameter that swings by 0.1mm changes the extrusion volume enough to show as banding on vertical walls, and the printer cannot correct for it mid-layer.

Which variant should I pick for miniature work?

PLA Meta and the matte finishes hide layer lines best on miniatures, while standard PLA gives the sharpest edge definition. Both run at the same temperatures, so swapping between them does not require a settings change.

Is the spool compatible with AMS and multi-material feeders?

Yes. The spool diameter and hub fit standard feeders including AMS-style systems, and the cardboard option is the safer choice where a feeder grips the rim.

PETG needs its own settings but works

Bought two spools of PETG and PLA+. The PETG wants 240 on the nozzle and a slower first layer, then it behaves. Docked one star because the spool label could be clearer about which variant is which.

Prints clean on a stock Ender

Ran the PLA at 205 degrees and 60mm per second on an unmodified printer and the walls came out smooth with no stringing. Layer adhesion is solid on a bracket that has been holding a shelf for a month.

1.1kg matters more than people think

Every spool runs out at the exact moment a long print is 90 percent done. The extra hundred grams has saved two of my prints already. Diameter is consistent, no popping, no wet filament out of the box.
