Description

Warmth Is a Given. Architecture Is What You Wear It For.

A winter coat is the garment the world sees you in for four months straight. Every coffee run, every walk from the train station, every arrival at the restaurant — the coat is the first impression, the silhouette, the frame. Most coats stop at warmth. The Odessa begins where warmth ends: with structure. Cut from double-faced wool with a mid-length line that falls just below the knee, it creates a clean, architectural A-line that reads as intentional in every setting — from a morning boardroom to an evening gallery opening.

The double-faced construction means no lining, no bulk, no stiff interfacing. Two layers of wool are woven together at the mill, creating a fabric that is warm without weight, structured without rigidity. The notched lapel sits flat against the collarbone, the dropped shoulder softens the line, and the single-button closure keeps the front panel clean. Side-seam pockets disappear into the drape. Available in classic black and camel, with an ivory option for those who treat their winter wardrobe as a statement rather than a concession. This is not the coat you settle for because it was on sale. This is the coat you reach for every morning because it makes sense of everything else you are wearing.

Styling Context

The Odessa works as a daily driver for the woman whose calendar spans multiple contexts. Over a cashmere turtleneck and wide-leg trousers, it reads as polished professional — the structured A-line creates a deliberate impression without looking like you tried. Over a silk slip dress and ankle boots, it transitions into the evening without a change — the single-button front lets the dress show through. On weekend mornings, thrown over jeans and a chunky knit, it elevates the casual uniform without overshadowing it. The mid-length cut means it works on women from 155cm to 178cm — longer coats overwhelm petite frames, cropped coats lose the architectural line; the below-knee length hits the sweet spot across body types.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is this coat true to size?

A: The Odessa is designed with a relaxed, dropped-shoulder fit intended for layering. If you plan to wear it over thin knits and blouses, choose your standard size. If you intend to layer over chunky sweaters or blazers, consider sizing up for comfort through the shoulders and upper arms.

Q: What does double-faced wool mean?

A: Double-faced wool is two layers of wool fabric woven together at the mill into a single cloth — both sides are finished, so there is no need for a lining. The result is a coat that is warm but much lighter than a traditional lined wool coat, with visible bound seams on the interior that add a tailored, artisanal finish.

Q: How do I care for this coat?

A: Dry clean only. Between cleanings, brush the surface with a soft garment brush to remove dust and restore the nap. Store on a wide, padded hanger to preserve the shoulder shape. Avoid folding or compressing in an overstuffed closet — the double-faced wool will hold creases.

Q: Is this suitable for very cold climates?

A: The Odessa is designed for autumn and mild winter conditions, roughly 0°C to 15°C (32°F to 59°F). The double-faced wool provides substantial warmth for its weight, but for sub-zero temperatures, you would want an additional insulating layer underneath or a heavier parka-style coat.

Q: What is the difference between the black, camel, and ivory colorways?

A: Black is a true deep black with a subtle tonal depth from the wool fiber. Camel is a warm golden-tan, classic and versatile across skin tones. Ivory is a cream-white with a slight warmth — it reads as sophisticated but requires more care in urban environments. All three use the same 600g/m² double-faced wool.

My clients keep asking where I got this coat

As a personal stylist, I am picky about outerwear. The Odessa delivers on all three things I look for: silhouette (the A-line is genuinely flattering across body types), fabric (double-faced wool drapes beautifully, no stiff interfacing), and versatility (I have worn this over a silk dress to a gallery opening and over a cashmere hoodie to brunch). Three of my clients have asked for the link. That is the best review I can give.

Beautiful coat, runs slightly large — size down if between sizes

The quality of the wool is immediately apparent — it has that slightly nubby texture that only 100% wool has. The camel color is a warm golden tan, not too orange. My only note: the dropped shoulder cut gives it a deliberately oversized look, which I love, but if you are between sizes, definitely size down. I ordered my usual medium and it fits more like a relaxed large. Would buy again in the ivory colorway.

The coat that finally made me stop buying a new one every winter

I have been through a cycle of buying a cheap wool-blend coat every November and donating it by March. This Odessa coat is different. The double-faced wool feels substantial — you can tell it is 100% wool, not a poly blend pretending to be wool. The fit is relaxed without being shapeless. I am 5 foot 6 and it hits just below the knee, which is exactly the length I wanted. The side pockets are deep enough for my phone and a card case without bulging.
