Revisiting Woodhouse Grove School

When Woodhouse Grove School chose a CCGrass surface for their new rugby pitch, way back in 2012, they were one of the first schools to go the โ€œartificialโ€ route. Now, nine years later the pitch is well established and has proven a great success.

As part of the CCGrass pitch monitoring, UK CEO, Bryn Lee, called in at the school last week to see how it was faring.

โ€œGiven how much the pitch is used by Bradford City Academy, the school and the local community, I was really pleased with its feel, look and performance. It has been well maintained, and is in great shape.โ€

The installed surface is theย Stemgrass EX2ย 60 turf, onto an insitu pad, and the football/rugby pitch, once again, achieved itsย World Rugbyย certification in November 2020.

Bryn commented further:

โ€œPerhaps the most impressive feedback I received during my visit, was a comment made by one of the Academy players. He said that the pitch felt very natural underfoot, a โ€œworld awayโ€ from other synthetic turf he has played on.โ€

Stemgrass EX2 features a texturised โ€œthatchโ€ yarn, which helps contain the infill material and gives a surer footing as a result.

โ€œWoodhouse Grove School was one of the first pitches using this technology. It has proven to be a real winner and creates a great playing surface for both rugby and football.โ€
