Every Frame You Lose Between Camera And Computer Is A Frame You Will Never Recover.

Professional image-making does not end when the shutter closes. It ends when the data is safe — verified, backed up, and ready for the edit suite. The Data Courier was engineered for the moment between capture and creation, when gigabytes of irreplaceable work travel through a single USB cable. PGYTECH designed this card reader not as an accessory, but as insurance. The CFexpress Type A / Type B dual-slot architecture means no adapter dongles, no workflow compromises, and no 2 AM anxiety about whether the card made it.

At 10 Gbps over USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, the Data Courier offloads a full 512GB CFexpress card in under 7 minutes — roughly the time it takes to brew a pour-over coffee. The integrated SD UHS-II slot means your backup cards and B-camera media share a single, machined-aluminum hub that travels as confidently to location shoots in Iceland as it does to the studio desk in Brooklyn.

Speed is not a luxury. It is a non-negotiable term of the creative contract.

Key Features

  • CFexpress Type A + Type B Dual Slots — Simultaneous support for both CFexpress formats without adapters. Read Type A cards from Sony Alpha cameras and Type B cards from Canon/Nikon/Panasonic in the same session
  • 10 Gbps USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 — Offloads 512GB in under 7 minutes. Sustained transfer speeds of 950-1,050 MB/s in real-world testing with ProGrade and Angelbird cards
  • SD UHS-II Slot — Dedicated SD card reader for backup media, B-camera footage, and standard workflow cards. Read speeds up to 312 MB/s
  • CNC Aluminum Enclosure — Precision-machined from a single aluminum billet. Passive thermal dissipation keeps card temperatures safe during sustained transfer sessions
  • IP54 Dust & Splash Resistance — Sealed card slots with silicone gaskets protect contacts from field dust, light rain, and condensation. Rated for outdoor location workflows
  • Bus-Powered — No External Supply — Draws power directly from USB-C. No wall adapter, no battery, no additional cables. One connection handles data and power
  • Included 50cm USB-C Cable — Braided, reinforced, and rated for 10 Gbps. Short enough for desk organization, long enough for laptop-in-lap field transfers

Workflows It Transforms

The Data Courier serves the wedding photographer who shoots 4,000 frames and needs them backed up before the reception ends. It serves the wildlife documentarian transferring 8K RAW footage in a tent with questionable power. It serves the photojournalist filing images from a satellite connection where every second of transfer time counts. It serves the studio retoucher who juggles three camera systems and refuses to maintain a drawer full of single-format readers. And it serves the content creator who simply values the peace of mind that comes from knowing their work survived the journey from card to computer — every time, without exception.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I transfer from both CFexpress slots simultaneously?

A: The Data Courier supports one active transfer slot at a time to maintain full 10 Gbps bandwidth. However, you can hot-swap cards between slots without disconnecting the reader. Both cards appear as separate volumes — drag and drop between them in your file manager.

Q: Does it get hot during sustained transfers?

A: The aluminum enclosure serves as a passive heatsink. Typical card temperatures stay within 45-55°C during a full 512GB offload. If the reader feels warm to the touch, this is normal — it means the thermal path is working. The reader will throttle transfer speed at 70°C to protect your cards, though this is extremely rare in normal use.

Q: Will this work with my iPhone 15 / iPad Pro via USB-C?

A: Yes. iPadOS and iOS (iPhone 15 series and newer with USB-C) recognize the Data Courier as an external storage device through the Files app. Transfer speeds are limited by the iOS file system layer (typically 500-700 MB/s), not the reader itself.

Q: Can I use this as a permanent desktop dock?

A: The Data Courier is designed primarily as a portable transfer tool. For permanent desktop use, we recommend unplugging it between sessions to prevent unnecessary bus power draw. The aluminum enclosure handles continuous use thermally, but the USB-C port is not rated for thousands of daily insertions.

Q: Does it support CFexpress 4.0 cards?

A: CFexpress 4.0 cards are backward compatible and will operate at CFexpress 2.0 speeds (up to 1,050 MB/s) in the Data Courier. Full CFexpress 4.0 bandwidth requires PCIe 4.0 lanes, which USB 3.2 Gen 2 does not provide. For CFexpress 4.0 workflows, consider a Thunderbolt 4 reader.

Solid build, wish it had a Thunderbolt option

I rent out camera gear and added three Data Couriers to our inventory. They've held up well — no returns, no failures in ~200 rentals. Build quality is clearly industrial-grade. My only wish is a Thunderbolt 4 version for CFexpress 4.0 cards, which are becoming standard on new bodies. USB 3.2 Gen 2 is fast enough for current-gen 8K workflows but prosumers will start bumping against the 10 Gbps ceiling soon. For current CFexpress 2.0 cards, it's perfect.

Essential field tool for documentary work

I'm a wildlife cinematographer and my workflow involves dumping 8K RAW footage in a tent with questionable power. The Data Courier has been flawless through 6 weeks in the Amazon and 3 weeks in the Arctic. USB-C bus power means no extra cables or power banks. The dual CFexpress slots let me offload my A-cam (Type B) and B-cam (Type A) with one device. The SD slot handles my audio recorder cards. This is the definition of purpose-built gear.

The reader I trust with wedding photos — enough said

When you shoot 3,000+ frames at a wedding and the couple's memories depend on those files making it to your backup drive, you don't mess around with cheap readers. The Data Courier offloaded 480GB from my Sony CFexpress Type A cards in under 7 minutes while I packed up gear. The IP54 rating matters — I've used it in light rain during outdoor receptions. The aluminum body feels premium and stays cool even during sustained transfers. This replaced a $90 reader that failed on me once. Never again.
