Description

Precision is not a tolerance. It is a philosophy. The Straight Line is a fully supported linear rail kit for CNC builders who have learned the hard way that a machine is only as truthful as its axes. Every cut, every engraving pass, every repeatable dimension on your workbench depends on a rail that refuses to sag, bind, or drift.

The shaft is case hardened, which is the detail that separates serious rails from toys. On a soft shaft, the bearing blocks will cut grooves into the steel within weeks, and your machine will start producing the kind of errors you blame on the router bit. Hardened shafts keep that from happening, and the fully supported aluminum rail underneath prevents deflection over long spans, so a 1200mm axis moves as straight as a 300mm one. The support rail arrives pre-drilled, so mounting is a matter of bolting it to your extrusion or plate rather than a day of layout work.

Each kit includes two rails and four SBRUU block bearings, the working set for a single axis. Choose your diameter and length from the SBR12, SBR16, SBR20, or SBR25 range, and contact us for custom lengths if your build asks for something between the standard sizes. It suits X, Y, and Z axes, and the CE certification covers the engineering standard.

This is not a rail. It is a promise your machine keeps on every pass.

Key Features

Application Scenarios

The Straight Line is the axis kit for builders and retrofitters: CNC router owners upgrading a floppy stock rail, makers building a new machine from extrusion, and repair shops replacing worn shafts on production equipment. It is also the right choice for custom automation rigs, 3D printer conversions, and laser engraver gantries that need repeatable motion. Because the kit includes both rails and bearings, it is a drop-in axis package rather than a scavenger hunt across suppliers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is included in one kit?

A: Each kit contains two fully supported linear rails with shafts and four matching SBRUU solid block bearings, enough for one complete axis.

Q: Which diameter and length should I choose?

A: Match the diameter to the load and the bearing size your build uses. SBR12 and SBR16 suit light and medium loads, while SBR20 and SBR25 carry heavier gantries. Length should match the travel distance you need plus mounting margin.

Q: Are custom lengths available?

A: Yes. If your build needs a length between the standard sizes, contact us before ordering and we can supply the rail cut to your specification.

Q: Why does the shaft need to be case hardened?

A: Soft shafts develop grooves where the bearing balls ride, and those grooves show up as vibration and lost accuracy. Case hardening keeps the bearing surface intact under load.

Q: Can I use these rails on a vertical axis?

A: Yes, the fully supported design works on X, Y, and Z axes. For vertical applications, make sure the weight is counterbalanced or the motor is sized to hold the load.

Q: Do the rails arrive ready to run?

A: The shafts are coated with a light protective oil for shipping. Wipe them clean and apply your preferred linear rail grease before first use for smoothest travel.

Q: What do the SBR and SBRUU designations mean?

A: SBR refers to the fully supported rail with shaft, and SBRUU identifies the open-type solid block bearing that rides on it. The UU blocks in each kit are matched to the rail diameter you select.

Zero play after retrofit

Used the SBR16 kit to retrofit an old engraver. Zero play in the axis now and the 1200mm span does not deflect at all.

Good value rails

Good rails for the price. Shipped well protected and the shafts arrived straight. Grease them before first use as described.

Built a new router with it

Built a new CNC router with the SBR20 kit. Repeatability improved noticeably over my old setup. The bearings ride beautifully.

Smooth axis now

Case hardened shafts are the real deal, my Z axis is smooth as silk now. The pre-drilled rails saved me an afternoon of layout work.
