the-gas-column-f80-monitor-arm
The Gas Column | F80 Full-Motion Monitor Arm for 17 to 30 Inch Screens

A monitor sits at the wrong height in almost every office. It is either low enough that you spend the day looking down at it, or high enough that the top edge sits above eye level and your neck pays for it by Thursday. Desk stands fix the problem only if the desk is the right height, which it usually is not. An arm fixes it because the screen position stops being a function of the furniture.

The NB F80 is a single gas spring arm for screens from 17 to 30 inches, rated for 2 to 9 kg and drilled for the two VESA patterns that cover almost every monitor built in the last decade: 75 x 75 mm and 100 x 100 mm. The gas spring carries the weight, which is what allows the screen to stay where you put it instead of drifting down the desk through the afternoon. Movement is full motion in the literal sense: tilt from 85 degrees down to 30 degrees back, swivel of 180 degrees either side, and 360 degrees of rotation for portrait orientation.

Construction is aluminium alloy with steel at the load points and ABS covers, mounted either through a desk clamp or a grommet hole depending on what the desk allows. The practical effect of an arm is that it returns desk space, which is the resource most home offices actually run short of: the area under the screen becomes usable for a keyboard, a notebook, or the second monitor you were told would not fit. Cable management runs along the arm so the adjustment does not pull a cable out of the back of the machine.

The desk stays where it is.
