説明

A television is a pane of glass. What decides whether it shows a cinema or a menu of advertisements is the small box attached to the back of it. The Signal Loft was built on the assumption that the box should keep up with the panel it feeds, not hold it back. It runs Android 14 on an Amlogic S905Y5 quad-core Cortex-A55 processor, with a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU handling the picture work, 4GB of DDR3 memory holding the interface in place, and 64GB of eMMC storage for the apps.

The output stage is where this unit separates from the crowd of unbranded streaming sticks. HDMI 2.1 carries 8K at 60 frames per second, and the decoder handles AV1, VP9, H.264 and H.265 in 10-bit HDR. Two USB ports sit on the chassis, with USB 3.0 for a drive and USB 2.0 for the keyboard or hub, and the system accepts external storage up to 2TB. Gigabit Ethernet and Bluetooth 4.0 cover the two situations a wireless-only box handles badly, large local libraries and a crowded 2.4GHz band.

The Premium bundle is not a marketing word here. The carton carries the box itself, a voice remote with backlight, a backlit keyboard, a USB hub, a 64GB TF card, a 2-in-1 64GB flash drive, an Ethernet cable, an HDMI cable, the manual, and the power supply. Plug it into a 100 to 240V outlet, connect one cable to the television, and the setup is finished in a few minutes.

The panel was never the limitation. The box was.

Living room setups where the television is used for streaming, local media and light gaming at the same time. The Gigabit port suits homes with a media server or a NAS, the 2TB expansion covers people who keep a drive of films, and the USB hub and backlit keyboard turn the box into a small workstation for browsing on a large panel. Rental apartments and hotel rooms also benefit, because the whole bundle arrives in one carton and needs no additional purchase to be usable.

Runs cool and quiet

Previous box used to get warm against the wall and the fan was audible in quiet scenes. This one stays cool even after a four hour session. The keyboard typing for passwords on the television is no longer a chore.

Good box, remote took some learning

Picture quality is excellent and the 8K output drives our panel properly. The voice remote has more buttons than I am used to and it took a week to stop hunting for the right one. The backlit keyboard was a genuinely useful addition for searching.

Plugged a 2TB drive straight in

I keep a drive of films and shows and wanted a box that would just read it. The USB 3.0 port picked up the drive immediately, no messing about. The HDMI cable and hub in the box meant I did not have to order anything else.

Ethernet port made the difference

Our living room sits far from the router and the wireless band is crowded with phones. Plugging this into the network port ended the buffering that every previous box gave us. It has been running daily for six weeks without a restart.

Replaced three devices with one box

I had a stick, a separate hub and a spare keyboard on the shelf. This replaced all of it. The bundle actually arrived complete, which is more than I expected. Setup took about ten minutes on a 65 inch panel and the interface moves without the pauses I used to get.
