説明

Dignity Does Not Age. Joints Do. A dog that once cleared a tailgate without a second thought will, at some point, stand in front of it and hesitate. That hesitation is not stubbornness - it is the arithmetic of a body that has begun to hurt, and it is the moment a car journey stops being a pleasure for both of you. The Summit Step is designed around that moment. It gives a large dog a gentle 18-degree climb into a car, SUV, truck bed or high bed, and it removes the lifted hips, the slipped paws and the argument at the boot.

The construction is deliberately light and deliberately strong. A high-grade aluminium frame carries a 250lb weight limit while weighing roughly 15 to 16 lbs, so it can be lifted out with one hand and positioned without a second person. The walking surface uses textured anti-slip grooves on diamond-plate material, and the side rails are widened and grippy, which is the part most ramps get wrong: rain, mud and wet paws are the normal condition, not the exception. Even an arthritic senior climbs with confidence, which is precisely the point.

What separates this ramp from the two and three-fold versions is the quad-fold half design. The extra fold lets it collapse to roughly 18 inches for trunk storage, and the additional half section placed on the vehicle side extends the platform where the load is heaviest, making the whole approach more stable on the way in and out. A carry handle is built in, and the full unit wipes clean. Available in 63 and 71 inch lengths with 17 or 20 inch widths, it accommodates everything from a lean working breed to a heavy-set senior.

Terrain is not an obstacle. It is an invitation.

Where It Belongs

The Summit Step is for owners of large breeds who have reached the stage where a jump is a risk. It serves arthritic seniors climbing into an SUV for a vet visit, working dogs loading into a truck bed after a day in the field, and heavy-set breeds whose owners can no longer lift them safely. Because the quad-fold collapses to around 18 inches, it lives permanently in the boot of a hatchback or saloon without displacing the shopping, and the weight of roughly 15 lbs means it can be positioned with one hand while the other holds the leash. Indoors, the same ramp solves the problem of a dog that can no longer reach the family bed or the sofa, which is often the first place the difficulty shows up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How is a quad-fold ramp better than a two or three-fold ramp?

Two things: storage and stability. Four folds bring it down to roughly 18 inches, which is small enough to leave in the car permanently. More importantly, the additional half section at the vehicle end extends the platform where the load is concentrated, so the ramp flexes less and feels more solid under a heavy dog.

Q: Will the surface still grip when it is wet or muddy?

Yes. The walking surface uses textured anti-slip grooves on diamond-plate material, and the side rails are both widened and grippy. Rain, mud and wet paws are treated as the normal operating condition rather than an exception, which is why the surface is textured rather than smooth rubber.

Q: What size should I choose for a Labrador or similar?

For a Labrador-sized dog, the 63 x 20 inch version is usually the right balance of length and width - wide enough to walk up confidently without a nudge from the side. Choose the 71 inch length if your vehicle sits high, such as a lifted truck or a large SUV, since the extra length reduces the climb angle.

Q: Can one person set it up?

Yes. The aluminium frame weighs around 15 to 16 lbs despite supporting 250 lbs, and there is an integrated carry handle, so it can be taken out and positioned with one hand. That is deliberate - many owners are managing a lead, a dog and a car door at the same time.

Q: Does the weight limit include large and heavy-set breeds?

The ramp is rated to 250 lbs, which comfortably covers large breeds and most heavy-set dogs, and the 18-degree incline is gentle enough that arthritic or senior dogs use it without hesitation. If your dog is at the upper end of the range, choose the wider 20 inch configuration for more confidence underfoot.

Solved the bed problem too

Bought it for the car and ended up using it indoors as well - my boy can no longer reach the bed and this fixed it. Aluminium frame wipes clean and the anti-slip grooves actually grip in the rain.

Very stable, choose the wider version

The half section at the vehicle end makes it far less flexy than the three-fold ramp I had before. I went with 63x20 for a Labrador and the extra width gives her confidence. Heavier dogs would benefit from the 71 inch length on a lifted truck.

Quad fold actually fits in the boot

The extra fold makes all the difference - it collapses to around 18 inches so it lives in the hatch permanently without eating the shopping space. 15lbs means I can position it one-handed while holding the lead.

My 11-year-old Lab uses it without hesitating

She had stopped getting into the SUV entirely. The 18-degree incline plus the textured surface means she walks up on her own now, even when her paws are wet. That alone was worth the price.
