説明

A workshop is judged by what it can finish, not by what it can detect. Detection is cheap now; almost any handheld will surface a fault code. Finishing means the coding is written, the key is introduced, the module is matched and the customer drives away the same day. The D9S sits on the side of the bench where jobs get finished.

Its architecture is that of a full diagnostic platform rather than an enhanced reader: forty-five-plus service functions, ECU coding and programming paths, bi-directional control across every major system, and DoIP for the vehicles that have moved their diagnostics onto Ethernet. Support for key programming and immobiliser work means the same tablet that reads a body module can also replace the credential attached to it, which is precisely the overlap where most multi-tool workflows lose an hour.

The physical design assumes it will be dropped. The housing is built to survive a bench environment -- cables pulled, screens tapped with gloves on, the tablet set down on a subframe while both hands are occupied. Ten hardware variants are stocked so a shop can buy the coverage tier matching its actual vehicle mix instead of subsidising another market's licence bundle.

Competence is the ability to close the job. Everything else is a readout.

Coverage Matrix

  • ✦Full-system diagnostics across engine, transmission, chassis, body and safety modules
  • ✦Bi-directional actuation for component-level proof rather than circuit guessing
  • ✦ECU coding and programming with 45-plus guided service functions
  • ✦Immobiliser and key programming support on covered platforms
  • ✦DoIP and CAN FD network support for current vehicle generations
  • ✦Topology-style module mapping so missing nodes are obvious at a glance
  • ✦Ten configuration tiers, from core coverage to full multi-brand licence

Diagnostic specialists buy the D9S when a job arrives that has already defeated a cheaper tool: a module that will not accept coding, an immobiliser that needs a key introduced, a body controller that has to be re-taught after replacement. Mobile technicians value it because the entire workflow -- read, prove, code, program the key -- travels in one case. Independent garages servicing a mixed European and Asian fleet use it as their only diagnostic purchase, accepting that it costs more than a reader because it removes the call-out to a specialist for the third of jobs that need coding. Reconditioning operations use the bi-directional control to exercise components before a vehicle is released.

Frequently Asked

Q: What separates the D9S from the D9?

The S designation carries the wider service-function set and the more complete programming coverage, including the additional reset routines and expanded key programming paths. Where the D9 covers the core diagnostic job, the D9S is specified for shops that routinely take on coding and credential work.

Q: Can it program ECUs or only read them?

ECU coding and programming paths are supported on covered platforms, with guided flows and pre-write state capture. Manufacturer online programming that requires a dealer portal authorisation sits outside the tool's scope and is not claimed.

Q: Is the do-IP support native?

Yes. DoIP and CAN FD are handled by the unit itself, which is why it can reach vehicles that return no communication on a legacy interface.

Q: Which of the ten variants should a small shop choose?

Match the licence tier to the vehicles that actually arrive. A shop working mostly one manufacturer group should not pay for full multi-brand coverage; a mixed-fleet independent should not buy a narrow tier and then discover the gap mid-job.

Q: Does key programming require extra hardware?

Covered platforms are programmed through the standard interface. Where a bench connection is required, the guided procedure states it before the job starts rather than after.

Q: How is the tablet updated?

Over the air. Firmware and the vehicle database refresh without a PC bridge, which keeps a working tool current without a maintenance afternoon.

Q: Can it be used for pre-purchase inspection work?

Yes, and it is a common second life for the unit. Full-system reads with stored and pending codes, live data and adaptation values give a far clearer picture of a used vehicle than a reader that only reports engine faults. The topology view also exposes modules that have gone silent, which is where hidden accident repairs usually show.

Q: What happens when a covered model is not in the database yet?

The database refreshes over the air, and newly added platforms appear with the release notes attached. For very recent model years the tool reports what it does not support rather than guessing, which is the behaviour a professional workflow needs.

Full-system reads for pre-purchase inspections

I use it far more for used-car inspections than for repairs. Stored and pending codes across every module plus live data on adaptations gives a much clearer story than an engine-only reader, and the topology view shows me which modules have gone quiet.

Heavy, but it survives being used

It lives on a subframe and gets set down on concrete daily, and after months it still looks and works like new. The interface is dense because the function set is dense, so budget an evening to learn it. Worth the learning curve.

The tool that finishes the job

Coding a replacement body module used to mean calling a specialist out. Did it on the bench in under an hour with the guided flow and the pre-write snapshot gave me confidence to commit the values. This paid for itself on the second job.
