説明

The Instrument Cluster Is the Only Conversation Your Car Has With You. Everything else, the engine, the gearbox, the sensors buried in the wheel arches, communicates through that one screen, and when the original unit dates from an era of orange backlighting and fixed dials, the driver is reading a summary written for someone else. This cluster replaces that conversation with a 1920 by 720 display running a Linux instrument system, installed in the factory housing so the dashboard still looks like it belongs to the car.

Installation is deliberately undramatic. The unit is plug and play, the original harness is reused, no coding session is required, and the mileage reads automatically instead of being keyed in by hand. The car's own information survives the swap: mileage, tyre pressure, oil and water temperature, oil pressure, fuel consumption, body balance, and the factory collision warning. The steering wheel buttons continue to control volume and track selection, three driving modes carry over from the original menu structure, and air conditioning output is unaffected.

The variables that usually make this job difficult are the ones this cluster was specified around. Screen size is matched to the car, not chosen generically, with 10.25 inch and 12.3 inch variants covering the ranges listed below. The system supports ten languages and can be updated by USB after installation. It does not introduce fault codes, it does not add electrical noise, and it does not modify the original vehicle hardware, which means the factory unit can be put back if the car is later sold in original condition.

Read the road through an instrument that was finally made for the driver.

Who Replaces a Working Dashboard

The buyer for this cluster is usually the owner of a car that still drives well and looks dated inside. A 3 Series from the early 2010s, an X5 that has become a family workhorse, or a 5 Series kept for long distance work all reach the same point where the analogue dials are the least pleasant part of the interior. Independent workshops and retrofitters buy it for the same reason, because a swap that needs no coding session and no mileage programming is a job that can be quoted flat rather than by the hour. Buyers should match the variant to the chassis and the production years exactly, and send us photographs of the current screen and dashboard before ordering, since the housing differs between generations.

Before You Install

Q: Which variant fits my car?

A: The variants are split by series and by production year, for example 3 Series 2005 to 2012 and 3 Series 2013 to 2019. Send us the chassis code, the model year and a photograph of your current dashboard and we will confirm the correct variant before shipping.

Q: Will it damage or modify the original car?

A: No. The unit is plug and play into the original harness, nothing is cut, and the factory cluster can be reinstalled if you later want the car original. That is also why no coding session is required.

Q: Does the mileage have to be entered manually?

A: No. Mileage displays automatically once the unit is connected, which removes the most common source of installation error.

Q: Do the steering wheel controls still work?

A: Volume and track selection continue to function. Music lists and phone book display are the functions that are not carried across, so plan for streaming from a device for media selection.

Q: Will it throw fault codes?

A: The cluster is designed not to. If a warning appears, recheck the connectors and the variant match, then contact us with the code before assuming a hardware fault.

Q: How clear is the screen in daylight?

A: The panel is a 1920 by 720 display and remains readable under direct sun. Three driving modes are available, so brightness and layout can be matched to the conditions.

The EastSupplier Promise

Check your variant carefully

Imported quality is good and the install was straightforward, but the series and year ranges matter. I sent photos of my dashboard before ordering and they confirmed the right variant, which I would recommend doing. Music list display is the one function you lose.

Mileage and tyre pressure all carried over

Was nervous about losing the factory data but oil and water temperature, tyre pressure and fuel consumption all display normally, and the collision warning still functions. Air conditioning was unaffected. Looks factory in the housing.

Plug and play, exactly as described

Fitted to a 2012 3 Series. No coding, mileage came up automatically, and the steering wheel buttons still work for volume. Screen is sharp at 1920 x 720 and reads fine in sunlight. Took an afternoon including removing the old cluster.
