説明
Drawing on a tablet while watching a monitor is a translation exercise. Drawing on the image itself is a conversation. The difference is not luxury, it is latency of attention: every glance upward to check the cursor costs a fraction of a second, and a working session is made of thousands of them.
The Artist 22 (2nd Generation) removes that translation. A 21.5-inch IPS panel at 1920 by 1080 sits under the pen, so the stroke lands where the eye already is. Colour is specified honestly for this class of hardware: 86 percent NTSC, Adobe RGB at or above 90 percent and sRGB at or above 122 percent, with an 800:1 contrast ratio and 8ms response. Those numbers describe a display that can be trusted for colour decisions in illustration, concept work and product rendering without a second reference monitor on the desk.
Input is the part that separates a pen display from a monitor with a digitiser glued on. The battery-free stylus resolves 8192 pressure levels at 5080 lines per inch, with 10 millimetres of reading height so the pen does not have to be pressed to the surface to register. Five mechanical buttons and a driver-level shortcut set mean the hand that draws does not keep leaving the surface for a keyboard. Connection is USB-C to USB-C, so a modern laptop or iMac needs no adapter chain between the machine and the work.
At 476 by 267 millimetres and certified to CE, EAC, FCC, RoHS, KC and WEEE, it is a piece of equipment intended to be used for years rather than upgraded each season.
The tool should disappear between the intention and the mark.
Why the display matters more than the spec sheet
✦ 21.5-inch 1080p IPS panel. A working surface large enough for a full page layout, with the resolution to keep line work crisp at normal viewing distance.
✦ 8192 pressure levels. Pressure resolution fine enough that a light sketch and a heavy ink pass come from the same stylus without changing settings.
✦ Battery-free stylus. No charging, no pairing, no dead pen in the middle of a deadline. The pen works because the display powers it.
✦ Wide colour coverage. 86 percent NTSC, Adobe RGB at or above 90 percent and sRGB at or above 122 percent, with 800:1 contrast.
✦ USB-C single cable. One cable carries video, data and power on compatible machines, which keeps the desk usable.
✦ Five mechanical buttons. Programmable shortcuts sit on the bezel where the non-drawing hand already rests.
✦ 10mm reading height. The cursor tracks before the nib touches the surface, which makes hovering and menu work feel less deliberate.

The work it is built for
Illustrators and concept artists are the core users, because line quality and colour trust are the whole job. Photo retouchers use the pressure curve for dodge and burn work that a mouse cannot express. Industrial and architectural designers sketch over imported drawings where a 21.5-inch surface shows enough of the sheet to work at real scale. Online teachers annotate live, which is a use case that punishes latency and rewards the direct-contact feel. Three groups should think twice: anyone whose work depends on a wide-gamut print pipeline should confirm the colour profile against their own output; anyone with a very small desk should measure first, because 21.5 inches is a real footprint; and anyone expecting a standalone computer should understand this is a display that needs a host machine.
Buyer questions
Q. Does it work with macOS and Windows?
Yes. It connects over USB-C to modern Mac and Windows machines, and drivers are supplied for both platforms. Older hardware without USB-C video support will need an adapter or a different connection route.
Q. Is the pen really battery-free?
Yes. The stylus is powered by the display through electromagnetic resonance, so there is nothing to charge and no pairing step.
Q. Can I use it as a second monitor?
The panel can display normal desktop content, but it is optimised as a pen display. Treat it as a drawing surface that also shows the work, not as a colour-critical reference monitor.
Q. How many displays can I connect?
The unit occupies one video output. If you already run two monitors, check that your machine and adapter setup can drive a third display at 1920 by 1080.
Q. Is a stand included?
The tablet has an integrated adjustable support. Check the box contents for your specific bundle, since regional packages differ on accessories such as extra nibs and gloves.
Q. Which software is supported?
All mainstream creative applications that accept tablet input: Photoshop, Illustrator, Clip Studio Paint, Krita, Blender, Affinity and similar. Drivers expose pressure and the five shortcut keys to the system.
What we confirm before dispatch. The unit is checked for panel uniformity, pen response and USB-C connection before shipping, and the correct regional power and certification set is confirmed for your destination. Nibs are consumables and are stocked separately, so a display bought this year does not become disposable when the first nib wears down.
