A newborn does not sleep on a schedule. It sleeps on motion, and the person providing that motion does not sleep at all. Every parent learns the same arithmetic in the first month: the rocking arm is the only engine in the house that cannot be switched off, and it burns the person holding it.
The Cradle Hush replaces that arm with a controlled one. It is a compact controller unit, 16.3 by 5.5 centimetres, that mounts to the frame of a cradle, hammock or bouncer and drives the rocking motion automatically through a spring-loaded mechanism. The timer is adjustable, so the cycle runs in defined intervals rather than until someone remembers to stop it. Housings are formed from PET and PP rather than brittle commodity plastic, because this is a device that lives within reach of a baby and will be gripped, knocked and wiped down daily.
The design intent is subtraction. No app, no account, no subscription, no firmware that decides your child should be rocked at 2 a.m. because a server said so. You attach it, you set the interval, and the motion continues while your hands are free to eat, fold, or sleep. Minimalist in a literal sense: the smallest number of parts that can do the job, arranged so that a tired adult can operate it in the dark.
It does not raise your child. It gives you back the arm that was doing the raising.

Where It Earns Its Place
The primary setting is a night feed that has to end in sleep rather than in a lap. The controller takes over the rocking once the baby has settled, which is the exact moment a parent needs their hands back. In a small apartment the same unit turns a hammock into a usable day bed, so a second sleeping surface costs nothing in floor space. Grandparents keeping a child for an afternoon use it because the interface has no learning curve. Travel cots with a rocking frame accept it as well, which means the motion a baby associates with home can follow the family instead of being left behind. In every case the value is measured in minutes of adult rest, and those minutes are the scarcest material in a newborn household.
Questions Worth Asking Before You Buy
Q: What exactly does this device do?
A: It is a controller that automates the rocking motion of a cradle, hammock or bouncer. It mounts to the frame, drives the swing through a spring mechanism, and stops according to the timer interval you set.
Q: Will it fit my cradle?
A: It is designed for frame-mounted cradles, hammocks and bouncers rather than for cots with solid enclosed sides. The body is 16.3 by 5.5 centimetres, so it needs a rail or bar it can clamp to.
Q: Is it safe to leave running while the baby sleeps?
A: It is intended for indoor domestic use under adult supervision, which is the same standard that applies to any rocking device. Never leave a baby unattended in a swinging cradle, and stop using the unit if the motion becomes uneven.
Q: How is the timer adjusted?
A: Through the control panel on the unit. Intervals are set before the cycle starts, so the swing runs for the period you choose and then stops rather than continuing until someone intervenes.
Q: Does it need an app or a phone?
A: No. There is no app, no account and no firmware dependency. The device does one thing, and it does that thing without a network connection.
Q: How do I clean it?
A: Wipe the housing with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not immerse the unit, because the spring mechanism and control panel are not sealed for submersion.
Q: What if my baby prefers being held to being rocked?
A: Then no device replaces you, and this one is not sold as a substitute for contact. It covers the period after a baby has settled, when the motion is what keeps them asleep and the arms are what is missing.
