Every Professional Has a Room They Carry With Them. For a makeup artist the room is a case, and the difference between a good one and a cheap one is measured on the third job of the week, when the hinges have taken a hundred opening cycles and the drawers still slide without arguing. This case is built on an aluminium frame with reinforced corners over a high hardness ABS and MDF body, so the structure that holds the contents together is metal rather than the soft shell that most trolleys in this price band are made from.

The layout is arranged around how a working kit is packed. A raised top compartment with adjustable dividers takes the products you reach for constantly, four lower drawers take the larger items such as airbrush compressors, dryer units and foundation bottles, and the workbench lid supports up to 30 kilograms so it can hold a light, a mirror and a tray of tools without flexing. The dimensions are 39 by 15 by 33.5 inches when open, which is space allocated to storage rather than to decoration.

Movement was designed in at the same time. At 32.9 pounds the case rolls on 360 degree castors, fits a car boot or a van footwell in a single lift, and deploys its legs in place so the artist is not working out of a box on the floor. A full screen mirror with three LED light settings answers the one question every event venue asks, which is whether you can see the client's face without dragging a second lamp across the room. Bluetooth speakers, a USB charging port and a key lock complete it, and the lock matters once the kit value passes the price of the case itself.

Pack the studio once. Unpack it wherever the work is.

Who Works Out of a Case

Makeup artists working weddings and editorial bookings need the case to survive a venue's service lift and a hotel loading bay, which is a different requirement from studio storage. Nail technicians use the workbench surface for curing lamps and drills, and the drawers for the gel inventory that otherwise ends up in plastic bags. Tattoo and permanent makeup artists buy it for the same reason, with the lock covering both hygiene and resale considerations. Mobile hairstylists and barbers treating it as a station on wheels get the mirror and the lighting without a second trip from the vehicle. Beauty students and salon owners stocking a second station can compare the three configurations in this listing and choose the drawer layout that matches the kit they already own.

Artist Questions

Q: What is the difference between Type A, Type B and Type C?

A: The configurations differ in the drawer and compartment layout rather than in materials or frame construction. Tell us what your kit contains, roughly, and we will recommend the layout that fits it.

Q: Can I sit on it or stand on it?

A: No. The workbench lid is rated for 30 kg of equipment laid on the surface. It is a working top rather than a step or a seat.

Q: Does it fit in a normal car?

A: The case is designed to fit a car boot and rolls on 360 degree castors for loading. If you drive a compact hatchback, confirm the folded dimensions with us before ordering.

Q: Is the mirror lit or just reflective?

A: It is a full screen mirror with three LED brightness settings, so it works as the primary light for client-facing work in a dim venue.

Q: How much can the drawers hold?

A: Each drawer is sized for bulk items such as nail dryers, foundation bottles and brush rolls. Heavy tool kits are better split between the drawers and the top compartment so that the case stays balanced on its castors.

Q: Is the lock secure enough to leave in a car?

A: The key lock keeps the drawers closed in transit and deters casual access at a venue. As with any case, valuables should not be left in a vehicle overnight.

Heavy when loaded, worth it

Empty it is manageable, loaded it is a two hand lift into the van, so be realistic about that. Build quality is well above the plastic trolleys I have used. The key lock gives peace of mind with a kit worth more than the case.

The lit mirror is the reason to buy it

Venues are always badly lit and the three LED settings mean I can actually see the client's face. USB port charges my phone between bookings and the Bluetooth speaker is louder than expected. Fits in the boot of a hatchback.

Survives a wedding season

Third month of event work and the drawers still slide properly and the frame has not loosened. Holds my airbrush compressor in a lower drawer and the workbench top takes a lamp plus a tray without flexing. Castors cope with gravel driveways.
