A drone is not a camera that flies. It is a perspective you rent by the minute, and everything that matters happens in the four seconds before the shutter opens: the hold against the wind, the stability of the gimbal, the question of whether the frame you framed is the frame you get. Most consumer quadcopters lose that argument with physics somewhere over the treeline. The Skyline GT60 was built to win it more often than it loses.

At 245 grams it sits deliberately under the registration threshold that governs drones above 250 grams in the United States, the European Union and much of Asia, which removes paperwork without removing capability. The airframe folds to 10.5 by 15.5 by 8.5 centimetres, small enough to live in a side pocket of a daypack instead of a hard case. Inside, a 1504 brushless motor set drives a servo gimbal stabilised by electronic image stabilisation, and the dual camera module records 4K, 6K or 8K depending on the variant, with optical flow positioning underneath for the moments when GPS alone is not enough.

The controller carries a 5.6 inch screen, so the image arrives without a phone clipped to a bracket, and the link holds to 1.2 kilometres. GPS brings one-button return, return on signal loss and low-power auto return, which together answer the only question that ever really matters in the air: will it come home. Flight time runs to roughly 25 minutes on the 3.7V 2650mAh pack, and the obstacle-avoidance head stops the aircraft before the frame stops itself.

The ground is not the limit. It is only the launch point.

Where It Works

Real estate photographers use the 8K variant because a still pulled from an 8K frame survives a magazine crop. Surveyors and roof inspectors favour the GPS return modes when working near structures, where losing orientation is the real risk and the automatic return is the safety net. Travellers choose it because 245 grams disappears into a daypack and sidesteps registration in most jurisdictions. Farmers and estate managers use the draw-a-route function to fly the same fence line or drainage channel on a repeating schedule, and event crews use gesture photo and palm control for group shots that would otherwise need a second operator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to register this drone?

At 245 grams it falls below the 250 gram threshold that triggers registration in the United States, the European Union and several other jurisdictions. Local rules vary and can change, so confirm the current requirement where you fly, but the aircraft was specified at this weight on purpose.

Does it record 8K video?

The camera module supports 4K, 6K and 8K depending on which variant you order. The 8K version is the one to choose if you intend to pull high-resolution stills from video frames or deliver to clients who ask for oversampled footage.

How stable is the footage in wind?

The servo gimbal works with electronic image stabilisation, and the airframe is rated for winds under 10 km/h. Below that threshold the footage holds; above it, the aircraft flies but the operator should expect visible correction.

What happens if the signal drops?

The GPS failsafe takes over: the aircraft returns to its recorded home point automatically on signal loss, on low battery, or on a single button press. This is the function most owners test first, and it is why GPS is specified rather than optional.

How long does it actually fly?

Around 25 minutes per pack in normal conditions, with a 120 minute recharge. Cold weather, aggressive manoeuvring and constant recording all shorten that figure, so plan on three batteries for a full location day.

Is a phone needed to fly it?

No. The controller carries its own 5.6 inch screen and receives the image directly. A phone is only useful if you want the app for route drawing, map planning or firmware updates.

Gimbal does the work

The servo gimbal plus stabilisation is what sold me and it holds up in a light breeze. Obstacle avoidance head stopped it in front of a fence I genuinely did not see in the frame. Setup took ten minutes out of the box.

GPS return saved it twice

Flew it along a treeline and lost signal behind the ridge both times. Both times it came back to the home point on its own. The only reason this is four stars is the 25 minute flight time - plan on spare packs if you are shooting a full location day. Camera on the 6K version is sharper than I expected at this price.

Under the registration weight and it shows

Took it through three countries on one trip with no paperwork questions at all. Folds into a side pocket of my camera bag. The controller screen means I stopped fighting with a phone mount, and the footage is steady enough that I use it for client b-roll now.
