Descrizione

Heat is the quietest form of industrial power. It does not announce itself; it simply changes the state of everything it touches. The Thermal Column is a 9kW stainless steel immersion element built for brewers, distillers, and process engineers who need dependable liquid heating at production scale, with a 2-inch tri-clamp mounting that drops into standard sanitary fittings.

Constructed around a stainless steel sheath with an 8mm tube diameter, it resists scale buildup and corrosion across thousands of heating hours, even in hard water and aggressive process solutions. The 220V/380V dual-voltage design means the same element adapts to residential single-phase and industrial three-phase service, making it a favorite for homebrew kettles, hot liquor tanks, and pilot-scale processing rigs where a single element has to cover multiple roles.

Because the element mounts through a tri-clamp ferrule, installation and removal take minutes, not hours. Clean it in place, swap it out, or relocate it between vessels without draining the tank. That serviceability is why this element keeps appearing in commercial kitchens and workshop breweries alike: it is not the cheapest element on the shelf, but it is the one that never becomes a project.

Maintenance crews keep spares on the shelf because swapping an element is faster than diagnosing a tank. Inspectors appreciate the sanitary seal and the clean documentation trail of standard fittings. And when a batch is running, the last thing anyone wants to think about is the heat source. This element is built to be forgotten in exactly that way.

Power is temporary. Precision is permanent.

Where It Works

Homebrewers mount it in stainless kettles for aggressive boils that drive off DMS and set the character of the batch. Distillers use it in hot liquor tanks and stills, where stable heat input decides the quality of the cut. Commercial kitchens and food processors heat cleaning solution and process water on demand. Workshop fabricators build custom heating rigs around the tri-clamp standard because it is the fastest fitting to modify. If the vessel has a 2-inch ferrule, the Thermal Column is the engine that lives inside it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does this element need a controller?

A: It is a heating element, not a controller. Pair it with a PID controller, SSR, and temperature probe for precise regulation and safe operation.

Q: Will it fit my brew kettle?

A: If your kettle has a standard 2-inch tri-clamp ferrule, yes. Confirm your fitting size before ordering.

Q: Can it run dry?

A: No. The element must be fully submerged in liquid whenever powered. Running dry will damage the sheath and void the warranty.

Q: Is it safe for food-contact heating?

A: Stainless steel construction is standard for food and beverage applications, and the tri-clamp seal keeps the connection sanitary.

Q: What voltage should I order?

A: Choose based on your service: 220V for residential single-phase, 380V for three-phase industrial circuits.

Q: How do I clean it between batches?

A: With the tri-clamp mount, remove the element, rinse or wipe the sheath, and reinstall. No tank draining is required.

Q: Does it work with a standard GFCI outlet?

A: A 9kW element draws significant current; it must be wired to a dedicated circuit rated for its load, not a standard outlet.

Q: What is the difference between 220V and 380V wiring?

A: 220V uses single-phase service, common in residential and small shops. 380V uses three-phase industrial service with higher available power. The element is compatible with both, but the wiring and control gear must match your supply.

Q: Can I use this element to heat liquids other than water?

A: Yes, it handles wort, cleaning solutions, and many process liquids. Check compatibility of your specific liquid with stainless steel before long-term use.

Q: What wattage is right for my vessel size?

A: As a rule of thumb, 9kW suits vessels from about 30 to 100 liters. Larger tanks may need two elements or a higher total load, depending on how fast you need the temperature rise.

Good industrial element

Quality build, the welds are clean. Works great in a 50L process vessel. Just remember it needs a proper controller and submersed operation.

Perfect for hot liquor tank

Used this in my homebrew hot liquor tank. The 2 inch tri-clamp fit perfectly and it holds temp with my controller. Much faster heat up than my old element.

Boils a 15 gallon batch in good time

Mounted in my stainless kettle with the tri-clamp and it rips through the boil. Solid stainless construction, no corrosion after several batches. Wiring instructions were straightforward with a PID.
