Descrizione

In fused deposition modeling, the filament path from spool to hot end is a high-speed race track measured in millimeters. Every bend, every friction point, every inconsistent inner diameter introduces a variable that compounds into a failed print. The Extrusion Line PTFE Bowden tube is manufactured to a standard that treats the filament path as a precision flow channel rather than a casual guide. The inner bore is reamed to 2.00 mm nominal with a +0.05 mm tolerance, giving 1.75 mm filament enough clearance to travel freely while maintaining the concentric alignment that prevents binding in retraction-heavy workflows.

The PTFE material is virgin-grade, not reprocessed, selected for its low coefficient of friction (0.04 against PETG filament) and its thermal stability through the temperature range of standard hot end cooling zones. Each 8-meter length is cut from a single continuous extrusion run, so there are no spikes or weld lines inside the bore that could snag a filament tip during a filament change. The outer wall is thick enough to resist kinking under the tight bend radius that delta printers and Bowden-direct hybrids demand, yet flexible enough to route through cable chains without stress cracking.

This is the consumable that most printer owners replace too late, after a week of inexplicable underextrusion and clog clearing. Fitting a fresh tube is a five-minute maintenance task that transforms print reliability, especially with abrasive filaments like carbon-fiber PETG and glow-in-the-dark PLA where the standard tube degrades from the inside out, visible to the user only when the print quality has already degraded.

This is not a tube. It is the shortest path between a good design and a finished part.

Key Features

  • ✦ Virgin-grade PTFE with precision 2.00 mm inner bore for consistent filament flow
  • ✦ 8-meter continuous length from a single extrusion run, no internal weld lines
  • ✦ Low coefficient of friction (0.04 vs PETG) reduces retraction resistance
  • ✦ Outer wall reinforced to resist kinking under tight bend radii
  • ✦ Compatible with 1.75 mm filament across all common Bowden hot end fittings
  • ✦ Thermally stable through the cooling zone temperature range of standard hot ends
  • ✦ Replaces worn tubes that cause underextrusion, clogs, and inconsistent layer adhesion

Who It Is Made For

The Extrusion Line serves the home hobbyist who has chased a mysterious underextrusion issue for weeks only to discover it was a worn Bowden tube, the small production shop running multiple printers through a farm where consistent tube quality reduces per-print variability, and the engineering prototyping lab that cannot afford print failures on overnight runs of complex geometries. It is a maintenance item as fundamental as a nozzle replacement, yet far more often overlooked.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How often should I replace the PTFE tube?

A: With standard PLA and PETG printing, every 3-6 months or approximately 500 print hours. With abrasive filaments like carbon-fiber PETG or glow-in-the-dark PLA, replace every 2-3 months or when you notice the first signs of retraction inconsistency.

Q: Will this tube work with my Ender 3 / CR-10 / Prusa MK4?

A: Yes. The 4.00 mm outer diameter is standard for all Bowden-style printers using PC4-M6 or PC4-M10 push-fit connectors. The 8-meter length covers even large-format printers with a generous margin for cable routing.

Q: What makes this tube different from the one that came with my printer?

A: The stock tube included with most printers is a standard-grade extrusion with wider internal tolerance variation. This tube is reamed to a precise 2.00 mm bore and made from virgin PTFE rather than regrind, resulting in lower friction and more consistent filament travel.

Q: Can I use this with flexible filaments like TPU?

A: Yes, but Bowden setups inherently add friction to flexible filament paths. For TPU, we recommend the shortest possible tube length and the widest bend radius to minimize compression during retraction.

Q: Does high temperature degrade the PTFE?

A: Standard PTFE begins to soften above 250 C. If you print high-temperature materials (nylon, polycarbonate) above 260 C, an all-metal hot end with Capricorn-style tube or no tube is recommended. For standard printing at 180-250 C, this tube is well within its operating range.

Q: How do I cut the tube cleanly?

A: Use a PTFE cutter or a sharp blade with a cutting guide. A square cut is essential for a proper seal inside the push-fit connector. We recommend marking the insertion depth before cutting.

Q: Can I use this tube for direct drive setups?

A: Yes. Most direct drive extruders use a short PTFE tube section between the extruder gear and the heat break. This tube works for that application, and the 8-meter roll can serve multiple printer upgrades.

Good quality PTFE, fair price

8 meters is a lot of tube for the price. Cut clean sections for two printers and still have material left. Inner diameter is consistent and the fittings grip well without leaking.

Fixed my retraction issues immediately

I had been chasing an underextrusion problem on my Ender 3 for two weeks. Replaced the stock tube with this and the first print after was flawless. The inner bore is noticeably smoother than the tube that came with the printer.
