The Burrow is built from that observation. A U-shaped tunnel curves into a closed nest at one end, so a cat can enter through the tube, turn once, and settle with its spine against fabric and its face toward the only opening.
The structure is a rigid coil inside a padded plush shell, which keeps the tunnel open rather than collapsing the way fabric tubes do after a few weeks of use. The interior is lined in the same plush, and the base is a non-slip pad that holds position on tile and hardwood. That detail matters more than it sounds: a bed that slides when a cat launches out of it gets abandoned.
The shell unzips and comes off for washing, and the coil springs back to shape after it is re-fitted. The exterior is a short-pile plush that does not hold loose fur the way long fur fabrics do, so a quick brush handles most of the shedding.
