Description

A Civic from the nineties still has one of the best chassis Honda ever put under a small car. What it does not have is suspension that has survived thirty years of roads and previous owners. Worn dampers make the car feel vague, ride height drifts, and the stance that made the model famous disappears into sagging springs. This kit restores the geometry and then gives you room to tune it, with four complete coilovers and the adjustment you need to set the car up properly.

Height is adjustable separately from damper stroke, which is the part most budget kits get wrong. Drop the car one to three inches without sacrificing travel, and change the ride height on the car without removing the coilover from the arch, using the supplied adjustment tools. Rebound damping offers 24 levels of adjustment at each corner, so the same hardware can be set soft for daily driving on broken city roads and firm for a track day, then returned to the street setting in a few minutes.

Spring rates are chosen for a real car rather than a catalogue claim. The front springs run at 8 kg/mm, or 448 pounds per inch, and the rear at 5 kg/mm, or 280 pounds per inch, a split that keeps the front planted under braking while letting the rear rotate in a corner. Rubber top mounts front and rear absorb hard impacts and keep the cabin civil at speed, and the twin-tube damper structure preserves sufficient stroke at low ride heights. Every spring is tested through 600,000 continuous cycles with less than 0.04 percent distortion, and the surface treatment is there to keep them that way.

The package contains two complete front and two complete rear assemblies, which is the whole car rather than a pair. A two-year warranty covers manufacturing defects.

Lower it, tune it, and drive it like the chassis was always meant to be driven.

Where It Belongs

This kit is for the owner of a 1988 to 2000 Civic, CRX or Integra who wants the car to sit and handle the way the aftermarket always promised, without paying European brand prices for a road car. Daily drivers gain a ride height that clears everyday obstacles while looking deliberate, and a damping setting soft enough for poor roads. Track and autocross drivers gain 24 levels of rebound adjustment and spring rates stiff enough to control body roll, then drive home on a comfortable setting. Restoration projects gain a complete four corner replacement in one order rather than hunting part numbers one corner at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which models does this kit fit?

It fits the Honda Civic, CRX and Integra from 1988 to 2000, including the EE, EF, EC, EJ, EG, EH, EK2 to EK9 chassis and the 1990 to 1993 Integra DA and DB. All four requested generations use a rear fork type lower mount. Confirm your exact chassis code with us before ordering.

Q: Do I need to remove the coilover to change the ride height?

No. Height is adjusted with the supplied tools while the unit stays on the car, and the damper stroke is not sacrificed when you lower the ride height. This is the main difference between this kit and cheaper fixed stroke designs.

Q: How stiff is the ride?

Front springs are rated 8 kg/mm and rear springs 5 kg/mm. With damping set toward the softer end and rubber top mounts front and rear, the car remains usable on ordinary roads. Firmer settings are there for track use, at the cost of comfort.

Q: Are camber plates included?

This kit uses aluminium top mounts with rubber inserts, which are quieter and more forgiving for road use. It does not include adjustable camber plates. If you need camber adjustment beyond what the standard top mounts allow, contact us before ordering.

Q: Can I install it myself?

It is a direct replacement for the original dampers and springs, but the job requires spring compressors, correct torque figures and a subsequent wheel alignment. Instructions are not included, so we recommend a workshop with suspension experience.

Q: What does the warranty cover?

Two years against manufacturing defects. Wear items after heavy track use are not covered, and the warranty requires that an alignment was performed after installation.

Complete kit, book an alignment

All four corners arrived in one order and the parts matched the chassis codes listed. You will need spring compressors and a proper alignment afterwards, so budget for a workshop. Four months in, no leaks and no knocking over potholes.

Spring rates suit the chassis

Eight kilo front springs and five kilo rear is a sensible split for this car. Body roll is controlled and the rear rotates when you want it to rather than because you were surprised. The rubber top mounts keep road noise down compared to the pillow ball mounts on my old setup.

The EK finally sits right

Fitted to a 1999 Civic and the height adjustment on the car is what sold me, because I could set the stance without pulling the struts again. Twenty four levels of rebound means I can soften it for the commute and firm it up for a track day in a few minutes.
