Description

A workshop chair is a piece of ergonomics disguised as furniture. Brake jobs, wheel arches, engine bays and lower door panels all push you into the same posture: knees folded, spine twisted, one shoulder carrying your weight while both hands work. That posture is what a rolling seat actually solves, and it solves it by putting the work at hip height instead of knee height.

This is the BLC9010 from SucceBuy, built on four 4 inch (101.6 mm) casters that swivel through 360 degrees so the seat tracks the job rather than the job tracking the seat. The cushion measures 450 x 250 mm and sits on a thick sponge pad, and the frame is rated to 300 lb (136 kg) with a net weight of 5.6 kg, which is light enough to shift one handed and heavy enough that it does not skate when you lean into a breaker bar. Three storage trays, the largest at 255 x 250 x 50 mm, hold the sockets, clips and fasteners that would otherwise end up on the floor under the car.

The practical difference shows up over a day rather than a minute. Sitting instead of crouching keeps the lower back out of the load path, which is why technicians who spend six hours a day at wheel height start using one before they need it. The trays are the second half of the design: when every fastener you remove has a place within reach, you stop losing clips, stop standing up to fetch a 10 mm socket, and stop leaving a bolt on the floor for the next car to find.

Good tools remove effort. The best ones remove the reason to get up.

What Sets It Apart

  • 300 lb load rating
Rated to 136 kg on a 5.6 kg frame, which covers a full grown technician leaning hard into a breaker bar without flex or creak.
  • Four 4 inch swivel casters
101.6 mm wheels roll over extension cords, floor drains and cracked concrete, turning 360 degrees so the seat follows the job.
  • 450 x 250 mm padded cushion
Thick sponge over a wide pan, sized so your weight sits on the seat rather than on your knees and lower back.
  • Three reachable storage trays
The largest tray measures 255 x 250 x 50 mm, keeping sockets, clips and hardware within arm's reach instead of on the floor.
  • 25.2 x 13.2 x 15.4 inch footprint
Compact enough to park against a wall, large enough to stay stable when you shift weight to one side.
  • Steel frame, 12.3 lb total
Light enough to lift onto a shelf at the end of the day, rigid enough to keep the cushion flat under load.

Where It Belongs

Detailers use it for wheel and lower panel work where kneeling on a wet floor is the alternative. Home mechanics use it for brake and suspension jobs that turn into a full afternoon. Tire shops and quick service bays keep one per technician because the seat carries the tools as well as the person. It also earns its place in aviation, marine and RV maintenance, where the working height is low, the floor space is tight and the fasteners are small enough to vanish into a bilge or a belly pan.

Questions Buyers Ask Before Ordering

Q: Will it hold a heavy technician without flexing?

The frame is rated to 300 lb (136 kg) with a net weight of 5.6 kg. The cushion is a thick sponge pad over a wide pan, so weight distributes across the seat rather than concentrating at the edges.

Q: Do the casters roll over cables and rough concrete?

The 4 inch (101.6 mm) wheels are sized to clear extension cords, floor drains and cracked shop floors, and they swivel through 360 degrees so the seat turns in place.

Q: How much can the trays hold?

The largest of the three trays measures 255 x 250 x 50 mm. They are intended for the sockets, clips and fasteners from the job in progress rather than for long term tool storage.

Q: Is assembly required?

The seat arrives as a frame, cushion and caster assembly. Bolting the casters to the base takes minutes with a standard wrench, and no special tools are needed.

Q: Can I use it on a lift or only on the floor?

It is designed for floor work and rolls freely on flat surfaces. On a raised lift, check that the platform is level and clear before rolling underneath.

Q: What working height does it put me at?

The seat stands 15.4 inches tall at the cushion, which puts wheel arches, lower door panels and brake calipers within comfortable reach instead of forcing a crouch.

Great seat, small casters on rough floor

Smooth on a finished floor and fine on broom-finished concrete. On a badly cracked apron the small wheels catch now and then, which is the trade off for the low working height.

Rated load is believable

I am 108 kg and it does not flex or creak when I lean into a breaker bar. Trays hold a socket rail, a pick set and a handful of clips with room left.

My back stopped complaining

Spent a full Saturday on brakes and suspension and never once crouched. The 4 inch casters roll over an extension cord without stopping, and the trays meant the caliper bolts never hit the floor.
