Description

Draining a fluid should take a tube and a pull, not a jack, a tray and a towel. The Fluid Lift is the workshop answer to that gap.

The body is semi-transparent with moulded tick marks, so the draw is read while the fluid moves rather than estimated afterwards. Built-in dual rubber pads seat against the cylinder wall and hold the piston tight, which is what stops the seepage that makes cheap extractors useless after a dozen jobs. Being a two-way tool, it fills as readily as it extracts: differentials, gearboxes, forks, coolant lines and brake reservoirs all take fluid from the same unit that emptied them, which is the reason a workshop keeps more than one.

Two capacities cover most work. The 500ml unit handles brake and hydraulic reservoirs and motorcycle forks where clearance is tight. The 1500ml unit handles oil changes, coolant and larger fluid transfers where a single draw saves several refills. Both are moulded in a durable plastic that shrugs off oil, coolant and water-based fluids, and both are cleaned with a flush rather than a disassembly.

The right tool turns a disposal problem into a ten-minute task.

Where It Works Best

Independent garages use the 1500ml unit for engine oil extraction through the dipstick tube, which keeps the job off the lift and away from a drain tray. Motorcycle workshops use the 500ml unit for fork oil and brake fluid, where a measured draw matters more than volume. Marine owners take both sizes to the dock for lower unit and trim fluid service. Fleet maintenance teams keep one per bay so fluid top-ups happen without walking the workshop for a funnel, and detailers use the smaller unit to move cleaning fluids into tight cavities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the extractor need power or air?

No. It is fully manual. A pull on the handle draws fluid and a push injects it, so it works in a yard, on a dock or anywhere without a compressor.

Q: Can one unit handle both oil and coolant?

Yes, with a flush between fluids. Draw a small amount of solvent or warm water, work the piston, and drain it before switching to a different fluid type.

Q: Which capacity should I buy first?

For engine oil service the 1500ml unit is the practical choice, since fewer draws are needed. For brake, fork and hydraulic work the 500ml unit fits tighter spaces and gives finer control.

Q: Will the seal leak after heavy use?

The dual rubber pads are designed to hold the piston tight against the wall, which is what prevents leakage. Keep the body clean and store the unit upright so the pads are not deformed between jobs.

Q: Can it be used for brake fluid?

Yes, and the graduated body helps with the volume check. Note that brake fluid should not be reused once drawn, and the unit should be flushed after the job.

Q: Is it suitable for a home mechanic?

Yes. It removes the need for a drain pan and a jack for many jobs, which is exactly the sort of service a home garage does on a driveway.

Q: How do I clean it after use?

Flush with a compatible solvent or warm water, work the piston through a few strokes, drain fully and store upright with the nozzle clear.

Works well, flush between fluids

Does exactly what it says. You do have to flush it properly if you switch from oil to brake fluid, which takes a couple of minutes.

Bought a second one for the other bay

Moved coolant and brake fluid on the same afternoon with a flush in between. Solid body and no leaks at the nozzle.

Great for fork oil

Used the 500ml unit on motorcycle forks. Tick marks are readable and the piston holds pressure so the draw is controlled.

No more drain tray on the driveway

Pulled the oil out of a 2.0 diesel through the dipstick tube in about ten minutes. The seal holds vacuum all the way, which the cheap one I had before never did.
