It is composed. The Bauhaus Halo is a small, deliberate instrument for that job: a round ambient lamp built around a smooth PE shade that spreads light across 360 degrees instead of firing it in one direction. The reference is obvious and intentional. Bauhaus thinking asked what a form must do, stripped away what it need not do, and stopped. This lamp stops at a circle and a touch.

Control is the interesting part. A short touch changes the light; a long press dims it continuously, so you can move from a work-bright neutral white down to a low amber pool without cycling through preset clicks. Select versions add a multi-function remote and a sixteen-colour RGB mode, which turns the same object into a bedside reading light, a hall night-light and a shy party fixture without changing the hardware. Power arrives through a USB connection, so there is no plug negotiation with the wall.

The A-profile measures roughly 11.8 in across and the B-profile is a compact 11.0 by 4.3 in, and both sit happily on a nightstand, a shelf, or a dining table centre where you want light and an object at the same time. It is not trying to be a statement pendant. It is trying to be the thing you keep.

A room is not lit. It flattens faces, hardens shadows and turns a room into a workspace whether you wanted one or not. Indirect ambient light does the opposite: because the Halo spreads its output across a 360-degree shade rather than through a directional cone, the surface of the room is lit evenly and the eye relaxes. That is why designers reach for lamps like this in hospitality settings, where the goal is not visibility but mood. Practically, it means the lamp works best at mid-dimming, roughly in the warm neutral band, where there is enough light to read by and still enough shadow to feel like evening. The touch surface makes that adjustment a single gesture rather than a hunt for a switch, and the USB connection means the lamp can live on a shelf, a headboard or a desk without a spare wall socket.

More Questions, Answered

Q: Will it work as a bedside reading light?

A: Yes.
