Description

A mixer that lives in a cupboard is a mixer that never gets used. Six litres on the bench changes the arithmetic of a weekend, two loaves instead of one, a tray of buns and the icing for them in the same session, and a batter that finishes mixing while you are still weighing the next bowl.

The motor is a 1200 W unit geared for torque rather than outright speed, which is what matters the moment stiff bread dough goes in. Planetary mixing drags the beater around the bowl as it turns, so flour at the rim meets the middle without a spatula being involved. Variable speed with a pulse setting covers sponge, buttercream, brioche and whipped cream.

A dough hook, a flat beater and a wire whisk twist onto the same hub, and the blender jug turns the same motor into a liquidiser for soup and smoothies. Suction feet hold the body still at speed, the splash guard keeps flour off the counter, and the stainless bowl has a handle and a pouring lip so the transfer to a tin is one movement.

A six litre bowl is the difference between one cake and two. Once the dough hook is in and the speed is set, the machine works while you weigh the next batch, which is how a domestic kitchen starts behaving like a small one. The head lifts clear so the bowl can come out, and adding flour or scraping the side does not mean stopping the motor and starting again.

The mixer is the appliance you leave out, not the one you put away.

Where This Mixer Fits

Home bakers working through a weekend of bread, families who bake in batches, and anyone who has been mixing cake batter by hand and would rather not. The blender jug covers the smoothies and soups that would otherwise need a second appliance on the bench.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will it knead bread dough?

Yes. Use the dough hook on the lower speeds and let the motor work. Stiff dough is a torque job, and the gearing is built for exactly that.

Q: What comes in the box?

The stainless bowl, a dough hook, a flat beater and a wire whisk, plus the blender jug on the models listed with one.

Q: How do I clean it?

The bowl and the metal parts wash by hand or in a dishwasher. Wipe the head and body with a damp cloth and never submerge them.

Q: Can it mix small quantities?

It can, though a stand mixer does its best work with a reasonable load. For a single egg white, the whisk on a low speed is the better tool.

Q: What voltage does it need?

Check the variant you order. The China and EU option is wired for 220 to 240 volts and should not go onto a 110 volt supply without a transformer.

Q: Does it handle heavy bread dough?

Yes. Run the dough hook on the lower speeds and let the motor work rather than forcing a high setting. Stiff dough is a torque job, and the low ratios are built for it.

Q: What comes in the box?

The stainless bowl, a dough hook, a flat beater and a wire whisk, plus the blender jug on the models listed with one. Each attachment twists onto the same hub.

Q: Is the bowl dishwasher safe?

The bowl and the metal attachments wash normally and the bowl is fine in a dishwasher. Wipe the head with a damp cloth rather than submerging it.

Q: How loud is it at high speed?

Planetary mixers are not silent, but the low gearing keeps the noise at a steady hum rather than a whine. The pulse setting handles short bursts without running at full tilt.

Heavy, plan the cupboard

It is a solid machine and I am glad it is, but it lives on the counter because moving it is a two hands job. Six litres is enough for a family batch of brioche.

The blender jug earns its place

I bought it for dough and use the blender more. Soup, smoothies, and the whisk for cream at Christmas. The motor note is low, not the whine my last mixer had.

Kneads two loaves without walking

The dough hook takes 1.5kg of flour and the bowl does not creep across the counter. I make bread on Sunday and cake the same afternoon without washing between, because the second bowl comes with it.
