Description

Sleep does not negotiate with geography. Whether suspended between two pines in the Cascades or strung across a clearing in the Appalachians, the quality of your rest determines the quality of your expedition. The Canopy Drift begins with this uncompromising premise: that ultralight gear should never mean ultralight sleep.

At its core, this is a double-person hammock engineered around the principle of distributed tension. The 210T parachute nylon body spreads weight across a 280cm x 140cm platform, eliminating the shoulder pinch and spine curvature that plague narrower designs. The integrated 360-degree mosquito net is not an afterthought stitched to the perimeter — it is a structural element of the canopy itself, arching high enough to allow seated reading and low enough to seal against winged intruders at dusk. Each anchor point is reinforced with triple bartack stitching, and the included aluminum wiregate carabiners are rated well beyond recreational loads.

What separates The Canopy Drift from the sea of mass-market hammocks is the Go Swing suspension geometry. The asymmetrical hang points allow a flatter diagonal lay than traditional gathered-end designs, meaning you wake up with the same spinal alignment you went to sleep with. The mosquito net deploys from a single-pull ridgeline clip — one motion, full enclosure. When morning comes, the entire system compresses into an attached stuff sack the size of a Nalgene bottle. Ultralight is not about sacrifice. It is about precision.

This is not a hammock. It is a suspended sleep system engineered for the backcountry.

Application Scenarios

Designed for the ultralight backpacker who refuses to compromise on sleep quality, The Canopy Drift excels in multi-day backcountry traverses, kayak camping expeditions, and overland journeys where every gram counts. The integrated mosquito net makes it equally suited to tropical and temperate forest environments where insects are active at dusk and dawn. Motorcycle campers, bikepackers, and festival-goers will appreciate the sub-60-second setup and pack-down cycle. For car camping couples, the double-person rating and generous platform dimensions transform a vehicle-side stop into a legitimate outdoor bedroom.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can this hammock really hold two adults comfortably?

A: Yes. The 220 kg weight capacity and 280cm x 140cm platform are engineered specifically for double-person use. Unlike narrower backpacking hammocks that force both occupants into a single stress channel, the Go Swing asymmetrical suspension distributes weight across a flatter plane.

Q: Does the mosquito net detach or is it permanently attached?

A: The net is integrated into the canopy structure for weight efficiency but can be completely unclipped from the ridgeline and stored in a side pocket when not needed — useful for winter camping or bug-free alpine environments.

Q: What kind of tree straps or suspension do I need?

A: The hammock includes aluminum wiregate carabiners but does not include tree straps — this is intentional. Serious hammock campers prefer to choose their own strap system based on tree diameter and weight preference. Any standard 1-inch polyester tree strap set with sewn loops will work with the included carabiners.

Q: How does this compare to an ENO DoubleNest?

A: The Canopy Drift uses the same 210T nylon material grade but adds an integrated structural mosquito net (ENO requires a separate Guardian bug net), an asymmetrical suspension for flatter lay (ENO uses traditional gathered-end), and packs into an included stuff sack. The total system is lighter than ENO DoubleNest + Guardian Bug Net + SlapStraps combined.

Q: Can I use this on the ground as an emergency shelter?

A: In a pinch, yes. The 210T nylon body provides a waterproof groundsheet, and the mosquito net can be propped with trekking poles to create a bivy shelter. It will not match a dedicated tent in heavy rain, but it will keep you dry and bug-free in mild conditions.

Replaced my ENO setup completely

I have been an ENO DoubleNest user for 5 years. This hammock replaced it on the first trip. The integrated bug net saves 300g of weight vs. carrying a separate Guardian. The carabiners are actual aluminum, not the steel boat anchors that come with most budget hammocks. The stuff sack is actually big enough to pack the whole system without a wrestling match. Highly recommended for anyone still carrying separate nets.

Double-person rating is legit

My partner and I used this for two nights in the Smokies. I was skeptical about two adults fitting comfortably but the 280cm platform is generous. The net gives enough headroom to sit up and read. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that tree straps are not included — had to buy separately. Otherwise, perfect for couple camping.

Best night of sleep I have ever had outdoors

Used this hammock on a 4-day section of the AT and slept better than I do in my bed at home. The asymmetrical lay actually keeps your spine flat — I woke up without the usual hammock back ache. The mosquito net deploys in one motion. Packed size is smaller than my sleeping bag. This is genuinely ultralight gear that does not compromise on comfort.
