Description

The Breakaway Succeeds or Fails Before the First Pedal Stroke. It Is Decided in the Kit You Put On That Morning.

The CSPD ATK Summer Cycling Set is a coordinated system — jersey and bib shorts engineered as a pair, not as two garments that happen to share a colorway. The jersey uses a lightweight Italian-milled polyester-elastane blend with a micro-perforated back panel that vents heat along the spine, the body's primary thermal exhaust path during sustained aerobic output. The fabric's moisture transfer rate exceeds 800g/m² per 24 hours — in practical terms, sweat from a 90-minute threshold session evaporates before it can pool at the base of your spine or saturate the front panel. You finish the ride dry, not dripping.

The bib shorts are the set's silent anchor. The multi-density chamois uses three foam layers of progressive firmness: a soft-touch top layer for immediate comfort, a medium-density middle layer for vibration damping on chip-seal and gravel, and a high-density base layer that resists compression collapse on rides exceeding five hours. The bib straps are cut from a wide, breathable mesh that distributes tension across the shoulders without digging into the trapezius — a persistent complaint with narrower strap designs. The leg grippers are a 60mm silicone-dot band that holds position through 100+ RPM sprints and out-of-saddle climbing without the "sausage casing" effect that narrower grippers create on muscular thighs.

This is not a kit. It is a thermodynamic management system that happens to make you faster.

Key Features

  • Italian-Milled Performance Fabric — Polyester-elastane blend with 800+ g/m²/24h moisture transfer rate keeps core temperature stable during high-output efforts
  • Micro-Perforated Spinal Vent Zone — Laser-drilled back panel exhausts heat along the body's primary thermal pathway
  • Tri-Density Chamois (3-Layer Progressive Foam) — Soft-touch top layer for comfort, medium-density mid-layer for vibration damping, high-density base layer for compression resistance on 5+ hour rides
  • Wide Breathable Mesh Bib Straps — 50mm strap width distributes tension evenly across shoulders and upper back, eliminating trapezius pressure points
  • 60mm Silicone-Dot Leg Grippers — Wide band with a graduated compression profile holds position without creating a constriction line on muscular thighs
  • YKK Full-Length Jersey Zipper — Smooth single-handed operation with a locking slider for mid-ride ventilation control
  • Three Rear Cargo Pockets + Zippered Security Pocket — Stretch-woven pockets with reinforced bottom seams carry full ride nutrition, tools, and valuables

Application Scenarios

The Breakaway Collection is engineered for the cyclist who treats every ride as training data. On fast weekend group rides averaging 30+ km/h, the race-cut jersey eliminates fabric flutter — the enemy of aerodynamic efficiency — while the tri-density chamois absorbs road vibration on chip-seal sections that would leave lesser bibs feeling thin by kilometer 60. For the gran fondo and century rider, the 5+ hour chamois endurance means the final 30 kilometers feel the same as the first 30 — no hot spots, no compression collapse, no shifting in the saddle to find a comfortable position. On hot summer training blocks where core temperature management is the limiting factor, the spinal vent zone and 800g/m² moisture transfer rate work together to keep the rider's thermal equilibrium below the threshold where power output begins to degrade. And for the criterium racer, the 60mm leg grippers and wide bib straps mean the kit stays exactly where it was positioned at the start line, through 60 minutes of repeated 1,200-watt sprints and 55 km/h corner exits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does the tri-density chamois compare to a standard single-density pad?

A: Single-density chamois pads provide one level of cushioning across the entire pad — they feel fine for the first hour, then progressively compress under sustained pressure until the rider is effectively sitting on the saddle with minimal padding. The tri-density design uses a high-density base layer that resists this compression collapse, so the soft-touch top layer and vibration-damping middle layer continue to function even on rides exceeding five hours. The difference is most noticeable on rides longer than 90 minutes.

Q: Does this set include both the jersey and bib shorts, or are they sold separately?

A: The Breakaway Collection is sold as a coordinated set including both the jersey and bib shorts in matching colorway. Sizing is independent — you can select a Medium jersey with Large bib shorts if your proportions require it. Check the size chart for individual garment measurements.

Q: How should I wash the bib shorts to preserve the chamois?

A: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle inside-out. Hang dry only — tumble drying is the fastest way to degrade the foam structure of the chamois and the elastane content of the compression fabric. Do not use fabric softener or bleach. For multi-day cycling events, rinse the bib shorts in cold water immediately after the ride and hang to dry overnight — the moisture-wicking fabric will be ready by morning.

Q: Are the leg grippers comfortable on larger thighs?

A: Yes. The 60mm silicone-dot band uses a graduated compression profile — firmer at the bottom edge to hold position, progressively lighter toward the top to prevent the constriction line that narrower grippers create. Riders with muscular thighs (cyclist/sprinter build) consistently report that the wide-band design eliminates the discomfort and visible compression marks that 30-40mm grippers produce.

Q: Is this kit suitable for indoor trainer use?

A: Yes, with one caveat: indoor training generates significantly more sweat than outdoor riding at the same power output because there is no evaporative wind cooling. The moisture transfer rate of 800+ g/m²/24h handles indoor sessions well, but we recommend a trainer-specific towel over the handlebars to catch drips and a fan directed at the torso to assist evaporation. Wash immediately after indoor sessions — dried sweat salts can degrade the elastane fibers over time.

Q: What is the warranty on the chamois and fabric?

A: The Breakaway Collection is covered by a 1-year manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship — this includes chamois delamination, seam failure, and fabric defects. The warranty does not cover crash damage, improper care (tumble drying, bleach), or normal wear-and-tear from high-mileage use. If you experience premature chamois compression collapse within the warranty period, contact us for evaluation.

Great value kit, bib shorts are the star

The bib shorts are the real highlight of this set — the chamois density progression is well thought out and the leg grippers actually stay put through criterium efforts. The jersey is good, especially the zippered security pocket for keys/cards, but the front zipper could be slightly smoother in operation. For the price of the set, you are getting bibs that compete with brands costing twice as much and a perfectly serviceable jersey. Washed 10+ times now and the chamois shows no signs of compression collapse.

Moisture management is exceptional

I ride in Texas summer heat (35°C / 95°F with humidity). The jersey fabric wicks sweat better than any kit I have owned — I finished a 3-hour ride and the front panel was dry, not soaked through. The spinal vent zone seems to actually work: I could feel the cooling effect on descents. The UPF 50+ protection is built into the weave, so I did not need sunscreen on my shoulders and back. The matching set looks professional and fits like a custom kit. Highly recommend for hot-weather riders.

The chamois is genuinely comfortable for 5+ hours

I have tried bibs from Assos, Rapha, and Castelli. The CSPD ATK tri-density chamois holds up against all of them for the first 4 hours — and surpasses some of them beyond that. Did a 170km ride with 3,000m of climbing and the chamois felt the same at kilometer 160 as it did at kilometer 20. No hot spots, no compression collapse. The wide bib straps distribute pressure evenly — no trapezius soreness the next day. The leg grippers are comfortable on my sprinter thighs (63cm circumference) without the 'sausage casing' look.
