The Nesting Pair started with a simple observation: most living rooms are used at three different densities in the same day. Wide open in the morning, tight around a laptop in the afternoon, crowded with guests in the evening. A single fixed coffee table can only serve one of those states. Two nesting tables serve all three, because the smaller one slides completely beneath the larger and frees the floor the moment it is not needed.

The tops are cut from E1-grade MDF and sealed in a warm walnut finish that resists heat and wipes clean with a damp cloth - practical for a surface that will hold coffee, wine and the occasional working laptop. Each table stands on three spindle-shaped iron legs rather than four, a mid-century detail that also solves a real problem: tripod legs find their own level on uneven floors, so neither table rocks when the smaller one is pulled out across a rug.

Rounded edges and a smooth coated surface make the pair safe in a home with children, and light enough to move one-handed. Assembly is a two-minute job - the legs simply screw into the underside with the supplied wrench - which means the set can follow you between flats without ever becoming a permanent installation.

Great pair, assembly takes a few minutes

Both tables went together with the supplied wrench in about five minutes, no tools of my own needed. Edges are properly rounded, which matters with a toddler around.

Tripod legs, no wobble

The three spindle legs find their own level on an uneven old floor, so neither table rocks. Better than the four legged set this replaced. Walnut colour matches our sofa nicely.

Small flat, big upgrade

Our living room is tiny and the small table sliding under the large one is the whole reason I bought this. When guests come we pull it out and suddenly there is a second surface. Looks far more expensive than it was.
