Description

Cold is a promise kept, even when the road is not. The Road Frost is a portable compressor refrigerator built for the people whose kitchen travels with them: overlanders crossing deserts, campers parked a hundred miles from the nearest store, tailgaters who take their cold chain seriously, and families who simply refuse to eat lukewarm food from a cooler full of melted ice.

Unlike cheap thermoelectric coolers that struggle to get 15 degrees below ambient, the Road Frost uses a real compressor, the same technology as your kitchen fridge, to pull temperatures down to freezing in any climate. It runs on both 12V/24V DC from your vehicle's power system and 110-240V AC from the wall or a generator, so the same box moves seamlessly from truck cab to campsite to cabin kitchen. The digital control panel sets your target temperature precisely, and the compressor maintains it regardless of outside heat.

Capacity is a choice, not a compromise. The lineup spans compact 20L units for solo trips, 30L and 35L boxes for couples and weekenders, and 40L, 45L, and 50L and 55L models for full families and extended expeditions. Every unit is CE-certified and built for the vibration, temperature swings, and rough handling of real travel, with a rugged exterior that shrugs off the dust and gravel of the trail.

Key Features

  • ✦ Real compressor cooling: reaches and holds refrigeration temperatures even in hot ambient conditions, unlike thermoelectric coolers.

Where It Works

The Road Frost earns its space in any vehicle that leaves the pavement: an overland rig carrying a week of fresh provisions, a camping family keeping drinks, meat, and medication properly chilled, a fishing trip storing the day's catch at temperature, a boat cockpit with 12V power available, or even a home garage and kitchen extension for extra cold storage. Because it accepts both DC and AC power, the same unit serves as a camping fridge on the weekend and a handy second refrigerator during the week.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How is this different from a thermoelectric cooler?

A: A thermoelectric cooler can only cool about 15-20 degrees below the outside temperature, which fails in summer heat. The Road Frost uses a real compressor, like a household refrigerator, so it can maintain freezing temperatures regardless of ambient conditions.

Q: Can I run it from my car battery?

A: Yes, it runs on 12V or 24V DC. Most models include low-voltage protection to avoid draining your vehicle's starter battery, and the AC adapter lets you plug into wall power when parked.

Q: Which size should I choose?

A: 20-30L suits solo travelers and weekend trips; 35-45L fits couples and small families; 50-55L is best for full families and extended expeditions. Check the variant dimensions against your vehicle's cargo space.

Q: How cold can it get?

A: It reaches standard refrigeration temperatures (around 0-5C / 32-41F) and holds them steadily. Set your target on the digital control panel and the compressor maintains it automatically.

Q: Is it noisy?

A: Compressor units are quiet in operation, generally comparable to a small household refrigerator and far quieter than thermoelectric units with fans. Noise is minimal inside a vehicle cabin.

Q: Can I use it at home?

A: Yes. The 110-240V AC input means you can plug it into any wall outlet, making it a useful extra refrigerator, beverage cooler, or garage fridge when it is not on the road.

This is not a cooler. It is a refrigerator that happens to live on wheels.

Solid fridge, check your cargo space

Cooling performance is excellent and dual power is convenient. Just measure your trunk first, the larger models are bigger than they look in photos. Ours fits fine in the back of an SUV.

Perfect for family camping

The 55L fits all our food and drinks for a family of four for a long weekend. Runs off the car socket while driving and the AC adapter keeps it cold in the tent. Quiet and efficient, worth every cent.

Real compressor, real cold

Took the 45L on a week-long overland trip in 35C heat and it kept everything properly cold the entire time, unlike every thermoelectric cooler I have used. The 12V draw is modest and the digital control holds the set temp exactly.
