It runs on a CR2032 cell that lasts six to twelve months, so there is no charging routine to forget and no cable to lose. The housing is sealed to a waterproof standard, which matters because a locator that fails in rain fails exactly when it is needed. Location can be shared with family members through the app, so more than one person can search without relaying instructions by phone.

The whole design weighs almost nothing on the collar, which is the practical requirement for cats in particular: a tag heavy enough to notice gets removed, and a locator that has been removed is a locator that is not there when it matters.
