A dog does not choose a bed for the fabric. It chooses the one that holds heat and lets it curl against something. The Hearth Round is a plush basket with a raised rim, built so a small animal can press its back into a wall of fabric and still see the room.
The shell is plush over a resilient filling, with a rim that stands up on its own rather than collapsing the first time it is sat on. The base is flat and padded, so the weight of the animal spreads across the floor instead of sinking into one spot. Six diameters run from forty to ninety centimetres, matched to pet weights from small cats to large dogs.
The cushion lifts out and the whole bed goes into a washing machine. That matters more than the colour choice, because a bed that cannot be washed becomes a bed that gets thrown away. After washing, the shell returns to shape by hand, and the filling settles back within a day.
Warmth is a material property. Comfort is what the animal decides.

Matching the bed to the animal
Smaller diameters suit cats, kittens and toy breeds that want a covered corner. Mid sizes cover most spaniels, terriers and shorthaired cats that sleep stretched out. The largest sizes are for Labradors, shepherds and dogs that sleep against a wall. In a car boot or a crate, the flat base keeps the bed from bunching. In a cold room, the rim holds warmth around the animal rather than letting it escape into the air. Senior animals with stiff joints do better in a bed they can step into, which is why the rim is soft rather than rigid.
Sizing and washing
Q: How do I choose the size?
Weigh the animal and check the guide. If it sits between two sizes, take the larger one. A bed that is slightly too big is comfortable; one that is too small gets abandoned.
Q: Can the whole bed be washed?
Yes. Remove the cushion, wash the shell on a gentle cycle, and reshape it by hand while damp. Do not tumble dry the plush.
Q: Will the rim collapse?
No. The rim is filled to stand on its own. It softens with washing and comes back with a hand reshape.
Q: Is it suitable for a puppy that chews?
Plush is not chew-proof. For a determined puppy, supervise at first. Most animals stop chewing once the bed becomes their sleeping place.
Q: Does it smell after a few weeks?
The cover washes, which is the answer to smell. Wash monthly, or sooner in a household with two animals.
Q: Can it go in a crate?
Yes, in a crate large enough to leave space around the bed. The flat base keeps it from sliding when the animal turns.
Q: My dog destroys beds. Will this one survive?
Plush shell beds survive nesting and scratching, not sustained chewing. For a destructive chewer, keep the bed for supervised rest and use a chew toy to redirect the habit before leaving the animal alone with it.
Q: Does the colour match the photographs?
Photographs are shot under studio light. Plush takes dye slightly differently per batch, so expect a small shift in tone rather than an exact match to the screen.
Delivery and exchange
Bed, removable cushion and size guide in one parcel. If the size is wrong on arrival and the bed is unused, tell us within seven days and we will arrange the exchange.
