Description

The Bag You Carry Decides How Far the Day Goes. A forty-five litre pack sits in an awkward middle band that most manufacturers avoid. Too large for a day hike, too small for a full expedition — and precisely right for the two-to-four day deployment where everything you need has to arrive on your back, in one trip, through terrain that does not offer a second chance. The Ridge Carry was built for that band, and for the people who live in it: field engineers, wildfire season volunteers, overland travellers, and the sort of camper who loads the vehicle once and walks away from it.

Construction starts with the shell. A polyester weave over a polyester lining keeps the pack light enough to move fast and durable enough to slide across gravel, tailgates and rock without opening a seam. The softback frame follows the spine rather than fighting it, so a loaded pack settles against the wearer instead of levering away from the shoulders on a climb. Zipper closure across every main access point means the load stays where it was packed, and the interior is organised into slot pockets, a zippered section and a dedicated compartment so that a headlamp, a first-aid kit and a battery bank do not migrate to the bottom of the main bag by day two.

At 50 × 30 × 30 cm the 45L body holds a sleeping system, two days of clothing and a cooking kit with room for consumables, while the compressible 36–55L family architecture lets the same pack cinch down to a weekend load or open up under a full resupply. Five colourways cover the practical range — Black, Khaki, Green, Red and BlackDigital camo — and each pack carries a hook-and-loop flag patch matched to its fulfilment warehouse, removable in one motion if a neutral panel is preferred. Fulfilment runs from Spain, the United Kingdom, Poland and the United States, which is why the same pack ships at different landed prices depending on where you are.

Terrain is not the obstacle. An unprepared load is.

Key Features

  • ✦ 45L main volume built on a 36–55L architecture, so the pack compresses for a weekend and expands for a resupply.
  • ✦ Polyester shell over a full polyester lining — abrasion-resistant and light enough for sustained carry.
  • ✦ Softback frame that follows the spine and settles the load instead of levering it away from the shoulders.
  • ✦ Interior slot pocket, zippered pocket and separate compartment keep small kit from sinking into the main load.
  • ✦ Zipper closure on every access point, with a soft handle and shoulder straps sized for loaded carry.
  • ✦ Removable hook-and-loop country flag patch, matched to the fulfilment warehouse and detachable in one motion.
  • ✦ Fulfilled from Spain, the United Kingdom, Poland and the United States for shorter regional transit.

Where It Earns Its Place

This is a working pack rather than a commuter bag, and it performs best where the day cannot be rescheduled. Field service technicians load it with diagnostic kit, a change of clothing and a laptop sleeve, then carry it from a van into a site that has no lift. Wildfire and rescue volunteers need the interior compartment discipline for PPE and radios, where a misplaced item costs minutes that matter. Overland travellers use the 45L body as a one-bag solution for multi-week trips, compressing it on transit days and opening it fully at a base camp. Closer to home, it suits the camper who wants a single pack for a three-day loop, the hunter who needs a quiet solid-panel exterior, and the festival-goer who has learned that a framed pack is a liability in a crowd. The removable flag patch means the same pack reads as neutral kit once the panel comes off.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is 45L enough for a multi-day trip?

A: For two to four days with a compact sleeping system it is sufficient. The 36–55L architecture means the same pack can be compressed for an overnight load or opened fully when carrying consumables for a longer stretch.

Q: Is the pack waterproof?

A: The polyester shell is water-resistant and handles rain and spray, but it is not submersible and no rain cover is included. For sustained downpours, line the main compartment with a dry bag.

Q: Will it fit as cabin baggage?

A: At 50 × 30 × 30 cm the body sits inside the published cabin envelope of most major carriers, but airline limits vary and are enforced at the gate. Check your carrier's current allowance before relying on it as a carry-on.

Q: What is the flag patch about?

A: Each pack ships with a hook-and-loop country flag matched to the warehouse that fulfils it — ES and US flags from Spain, UK flag from the United Kingdom, US flag from Poland and the United States. It detaches in one motion if you prefer a plain panel.

Q: Which warehouses do you ship from?

A: Spain, the United Kingdom, Poland and the United States. The warehouse assigned to your order determines both transit time and the landed price shown at checkout.

Q: How is the interior organised?

A: A slot pocket, a zippered pocket and a separate interior compartment sit inside a single main body, which keeps small kit accessible without unpacking the whole load.

Q: Does it have a frame?

A: No. It is a softback design, which keeps the pack light and lets it compress into a vehicle or a locker. Load distribution comes from the shoulder straps and the pack's own shape rather than an internal frame.

Fits the carry-on limits I fly with

Measured it against my airline allowance before booking and it passed at fifty by thirty by thirty. Loaded heavy it still fit in the overhead bin on a full flight. Ordered from the UK warehouse and it arrived in four days.

Solid for the price, not waterproof

Good honest pack. Not submersible and there is no rain cover so I lined it with a dry bag for a wet weekend in Wales, which worked fine. Zippers have held up over about fifteen trips so far. Compresses down well when half loaded.

The flag patch comes off clean

I wanted a plain pack for work travel and the patch peels off in one motion, no residue. 45 litres swallowed four days of clothing plus my laptop sleeve. Polyester shell has handled being thrown in and out of a van without scuffing.

Three day loop, one bag

Took it on a three day hike with a compact sleeping bag and a stove. The interior pockets kept my headlamp and first aid kit where I could find them instead of at the bottom of the main compartment. Straps settled the load well on the climbs.
