Beschreibung

Plastic Is Cheap. Engineering Plastic Is a Decision.

There is a moment in every workshop when a printed part stops being a model and starts being a component - a hinge that will be opened a thousand times, a bracket that will hold a motor, a clip that lives inside a hot enclosure. That moment is where PLA fails and nylon begins. The Layer Forge is a five-roll set of JAYO Easy PA polyamide filament, sized so that a real project completes without a mid-build reorder.

Polyamide is difficult material in two specific ways: it warps as it cools, and it absorbs water from the air. This formulation attacks both. The anti-warping blend with no cracking behaviour holds long, thin geometry that would otherwise lift off the bed, and every spool arrives vacuum sealed with desiccant so the filament reaches the hot end dry. Dry filament extrudes evenly, and even extrusion is what produces the smooth top surfaces and clean layer bonding that the material is capable of.

After printing, Easy PA parts can be annealed - heated slowly and cooled under control - which raises crystallinity and pushes stiffness and heat resistance further still. That makes the set suitable not only for prototypes but for finished brackets, jigs, spacers and replacement parts that will be judged by how they behave in service rather than how they looked on the build plate.

Designed on a screen. Tested in the hand. Judged in the field.

Key Features

  • ✦ Five spools in one set - enough nylon for a full run of functional parts instead of a single test bracket.
  • ✦ Anti-warping PA formulation with no cracking, the two failure modes that make most beginners give up on nylon.
  • ✦ Heat-resistant after printing, so brackets, clips and housings survive an engine bay, a workshop or a hot enclosure.
  • ✦ Annealing-friendly: bake a finished part to raise crystallinity and stiffness well beyond what PLA or PETG can reach.
  • ✦ Neatly wound JAYO spools and controlled 1.75 mm diameter keep extrusion consistent, which means fewer clogs and cleaner top surfaces.
  • ✦ Vacuum-sealed with desiccant, because nylon is hygroscopic and a dry spool is the difference between a clean print and a stringy one.

Where It Belongs

The Layer Forge suits engineers and makers who print to use rather than to display: drone and RC frames that must absorb vibration, jigs and fixtures for a workshop bench, automotive interior clips and under-hood brackets, robotics parts that will run warm for hours, and functional prototypes that need to survive a customer trial. It is equally at home in an educational lab where students move from CAD to a part that genuinely carries load, and in a repair workshop where a discontinued plastic component has to be recreated rather than ordered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need a hardened nozzle for PA nylon?

A: Not for plain Easy PA. A standard brass or steel 0.4 mm nozzle works. If you later add carbon or glass filled nylon, switch to a hardened nozzle at that point.

Q: Does the filament need drying before use?

A: Every spool arrives vacuum sealed with desiccant, so the first print is ready out of the bag. Once a spool is opened, store it dry - nylon picks up moisture and wet filament prints stringy.

Q: How do I stop nylon from warping?

A: Use an enclosed printer if you have one, keep the bed warm, and print onto a suitable adhesive surface. The anti-warping formulation reduces the problem, and an enclosure removes most of it.

Q: What does annealing actually do?

A: Annealing raises the crystallinity of the printed part, which increases stiffness and heat resistance. Bake the finished part slowly, then let it cool under control to avoid distortion.

Q: Will it fit my printer?

A: The spools are standard 1.75 mm and fit most FDM / FFF printers. Check that your hot end can reach nylon temperatures before starting.

Q: How long can I store an unopened set?

A: Around one year when the vacuum seal is intact and the carton is kept out of direct sun. Once opened, dry storage is what protects the print quality.

Keep it dry after opening

Excellent filament, but like all nylon it wants dry storage once the bag is open. Sealed it back with desiccant and the second roll printed as cleanly as the first.

Annealed brackets held up

Annealed a set of motor mounts and they survived a hot enclosure that deformed my old PETG parts. Vacuum sealed with desiccant on arrival, which matters for PA.

No warping on long parts

Printed a 190 mm bracket that lifted with every other nylon I have tried. This one held the bed. Five rolls means I can actually finish a project instead of reordering halfway.
