Beschreibung

The scarf collar is the reason this piece exists. It wraps without adding a scarf, closes the neckline without a zip, and gives a knit layer enough presence to wear as the outermost thing on a mild day. Everything else about it is quiet: a loose body, full sleeves, a medium-weight knit that sits between a cardigan and a coat.

The fabric weight is the detail worth knowing. At 120 to 220 g/m², the knit is substantial enough to hold a shape and light enough to wear indoors, which is the range that makes a layering piece useful rather than decorative. Slight stretch through the body means it moves with you, and the open stitch construction gives it texture close up without a pattern.

It is not a fully opening jacket, so treat it as a pull-on layer rather than something you button up the front. The supplier lists nine colourways, and the length runs 100 to 108 cm across S to L, which lands at hip to upper thigh depending on your frame. The loose fit is genuinely loose, so the size you choose is a choice about how much room you want rather than a question of whether it will close.

There is a case for buying a knit layer in a colour that is not black. This one comes in nine, and the striped variants do something a plain knit cannot: they break up the torso, which makes a loose fit look deliberate instead of oversized. If you already own three black knits, the stripes are the reason to look at this listing.

A layer is worth owning when it solves the neckline, not just the temperature.

A jacket that reads as a scarf

  • ✦ Scarf collar that wraps the neck without a separate scarf
  • ✦ Medium-weight knit, 120 to 220 g/m², wearable indoors and out
  • ✦ Loose body with full-length sleeves and slight stretch
  • ✦ Nine colourways in striped and solid tones
  • ✦ Length runs 100 to 108 cm from S to L
  • ✦ Open-stitch knit construction with visible texture
  • ✦ Pull-on style, not a fully opening front

Layering season

This is the piece that gets worn between October and April. Over a plain knit dress for a dinner, over jeans and a tee on a Saturday, under a wool coat when the collar needs to sit above the lapel instead of under it. The scarf collar does the work a necklace would, so the outfit needs nothing else at the neck. Because the knit is medium weight, it also travels well: fold it flat, and the creases drop out within an hour of wearing.

Questions about the fit

Q: Does it open all the way down the front?

No. The supplier specifies an open stitch construction that does not fully open, so you put it on over the head. There is no button placket down the front.

Q: How loose is the loose fit?

It is cut generously through the body with a dropped shoulder line. If you want it to sit close, size down. Most people will want their usual size and room to layer a long-sleeve top underneath.

Q: Will the scarf collar be too warm?

It sits at the neck without wrapping twice, so it adds warmth at the throat rather than around the whole neck. That is what makes it wearable indoors.

Q: How do the nine colourways differ?

The range mixes stripe patterns with solid tones including pink, grey, apricot and green. Each colourway is a separate variant, and the price varies slightly between them because the supplier prices them individually.

Q: How should I dry it?

Flat, away from direct heat. A knit this weight will stretch on a hanger at the shoulder, and a tumble dryer will shrink the body unevenly against the sleeves.

Q: Will it pill under a bag strap?

Any knit in this weight range can pill where a strap rubs, particularly on the shoulder. Rotate the bag to the other side, and remove pills with a fabric comb rather than a razor, which cuts the yarn.

Q: Can it be worn as a top rather than a jacket?

Yes, over a camisole or a fitted long-sleeve tee. The loose body and full sleeves mean it reads as a light jacket when worn as the outer layer, and as a knit top when worn under a coat.

Shipping and exchanges

Knitwear is priced by weight and yarn, which is why we publish the fabric weight instead of asking you to trust a photo. Stock is held for every colourway listed. Orders ship within one working day, and if a colour arrives different from the swatch, tell us within seven days and we will exchange it.

Stripe version breaks up the volume

I have enough black knits, so I took a stripe and it was the right call. The stripes stop the loose cut from looking like a blanket. Length is 104 cm on the M, which is upper thigh on me.

Loose, and it does not open at the front

Worth knowing before you order that it goes on over the head, there is no button front. The loose fit is genuinely loose, I sized down and still have room for a long-sleeve top underneath. Nine colourways is a lot of choice.

The collar replaces a scarf entirely

This is the layer I reach for over a knit dress in October. The scarf collar sits at the neck without wrapping, so it works indoors too. Medium weight is accurate, it is not a heavy coat knit.
