PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

The molecular formula of Thymoquinone is C10H12O2 and the molecular weight is 164.2. Thymoquinone is extracted from the seeds of the plant Nigella sativa, also known as black seed, black cumin, or black caraway.

Thymoquinone, the main bioactive compound in bush seeds, has shown a wide range of biological benefits, including anti-cancer, anti-diabetic, anti-hypertensive, antibacterial, analgesic, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, hepatoprotective, antioxidant and other areas.

Additionally, thymoquinone has been shown to have a good protective effect on radiation enteritis and radiation liver injury.

Thymoquinone Function
Anti-cancer
Thymoquinone has been shown to affect many different signaling pathways in various types of cancer, including P53, P73, TWIST1, nf-κb, MAPK, PI3K/AKT, PTEN, STAT3, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (ppar-γ ) and reactive oxygen species (Ros). This makes it a promising candidate for an anticancer small molecule.

Thymoquinone has been shown to induce apoptosis in cervical cancer (Siha and C33a), leukemia (HL60), human sarcoma(MG63 and MNNG/HOS), skin squamous cell carcinoma, and gastric cancer (HGC-27).

Antioxidation
Over one hundred diseases have been linked to an overabundance of free radicals, or the body’s inability to properly eliminate them. Free radicals freely travel through the body, attacking cells and causing damage to proteins, enzymes, DNA, and cell mutations. This can lead to degenerative diseases such as weakened blood vessels, aging brain cells, weakened immune systems, and osteoarthritis.

However, thymoquinone has been shown to delay the auto-oxidation process of oil, and its antioxidant effect increases with concentration. Therefore, thymoquinone has a significant antioxidant effect and the ability to eliminate free radicals.

Liver protection
Thymoquinone has a hepatoprotective effect by blocking caspase activation, MAPK signaling pathway, and activating AMPK signaling pathway. Thymoquinone inhibits alcoholic liver disease by activating AMPK and SIRT1 protein expression, thereby improving ethanol-induced triglyceride accumulation.

In conclusion, thymoquinone has a significant protective effect on acute liver injury and has potential pharmacological therapeutic value.
